What skills and experience we're looking for

An exciting position has arisen for an experienced Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join The Golden Thread Alliance. The person appointed to this role will be part of our central team, working with children across the Trust to provide specialist support and advice.

We are looking for someone with experience working with children to support and develop their speech and language skills. The post holder will offer SALT assessments, create support plans, and provide advice and support to parents, carers and school staff. As the Senior Speech & Language Therapist, you will play a key role in creating, developing, and assessing the systems for speech and language across the Trust and developing the provision within our schools. This is a new role within the Trust so you would be able to take ownership of not only the role but also the systems for speech and language across our schools, alongside the School Improvement Partner for SEND.

This role is a permanent position, 32.5 hours per week term time only. The salary is within the Kent Range 10 £37,374 FTE, actual pro rata salary £27,758.60, based on 32.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year.

To undertake clinical review of all oncology/haematology prescriptions and non-cancer prescriptions including clinical trial prescriptions for those products supplied by the chemotherapy dispensary, including adult parenteral nutrition, and monoclonal antibody preparations. To provide medicines optimisation and medicines reconciliation services to achieve department priorities and targets on a designated ward or group of wards as decided by the Lead Clinical Pharmacists. You must be currently registered with the GPhC as a pharmacist and previous hospital experience is essential with previous cancer experience as desirable. You must also have a Clinical Diploma/equivalent or be working towards one. There will be an opportunity to train as an Independent Prescriber.

The Inpatient Learning Disability Services are part of the Forensic & Specialist Directorate and specialises in the assessment and intervention of people who have a learning disability/mental illness, and/or who are autistic and have committed offences requiring inpatient care.

The service provides 33 inpatient beds across 2 units on the same site.

The successful applicant will work as part of the Occupational Therapy and Multidisciplinary team.

This post would suit an experienced clinician looking for a new challenge. You would work closely with the senior practitioner to continually develop the programme of interventions, using evidence-based practice. You would also hold a clinical caseload of complex clients, as well as promoting the profession through clinical governance.

The post holder would need experience of at least 2 years as an Occupational Therapist, ideally with experience with learning disabilities, autism, mental health or in a forensic setting, and would need to be enthusiastic, motivated and prepared to work under supervision as well as work autonomously.
