The pharmacy department at OUH comprises of over 100 staff in the clinical pharmacy team, and we work across all 4 hospital sites. This post offers a unique and brand new opportunity to work across a highly specialist area in paediatrics and clinical trials to bridge the gap between standard NHS care and be at the forefront of research
This is a split post where you will spend half of your time with the Pharmacy Paediatric cancer Team and the other half with the Clinical Trials team
Clinical trials:
· Co-ordinate and deliver Pharmacy support to Researchers in the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
· Work with the Clinical Trial Team, to strategically plan the workload for Pharmacy Services for the Trust and ensure operational implementation.
· Ensure that Pharmacy procedures relating to clinical trials involving Investigational Medicinal Products (IMP’s) are in accordance with appropriate regulations
· Provide highly specialised professional expertise to Researchers in the development of clinical trial protocols involving medication and related substances and to provide advice & information regarding the application for Clinical Trial Authorisation (CTA) certification from the MHRA.
Paediatric cancer:
· Become accredited to screen SACT to support inpatient, outpatient & day case patients both at OUH (PTC) and across the Thames Valley network
· Providing clinical cover to Kamran’s ward
· Undertake NMP qualification as appropriate
· Gain experience in building prescription templates within the chemocare system
· Gain experience in managing commissioning of high cost drugs, and provision of medicines via compassion use schemes.
· Be the link person between the paediatric clinical pharmacy team and the clinical trials team.
