After several years of ever closer working, North Mid and Royal Free London are planning to come together as one organisation to enable them to go further and faster in improving services for patients and the health of the local community than they can achieve separately. The merger of North Mid into the RFL group is currently expected to take place on 1 January 2025, subject to NHS England and Secretary of State approval.

Clinical Responsibilities To manage an autonomous caseload for the Neurorehabilitation service on Frank Cooksey Rehabilitation Unit and Ontario ward, which will include assessment, differential diagnosis, and specialist SLT management for patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders, following King's College Hospital (KCH) Speech and Language Therapy evidence based guidelines and abiding by KCH Speech and Language Therapy service standards. To provide highly specialist input into policies and protocols regarding the management of patients seen by the Speech and Language Therapy Neurorehabilitation team and wider service. To act as a link between all SLTs involved in treating patients in Neurorehabilitation beds and jointly lead the team in order to ensure the patient receives treatment from the most appropriate therapist and that knowledge and resources are shared across the service. To work closely and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team in Neurorehabilitation in assessment, the planning and provision of rehabilitation goals and programmes, negotiating length of stay and discharge arrangements as appropriate. To co-ordinate and promote communication developments under the guidance of a senior therapist e.g. mental capacity act issues, developing and delivering training on supporting communication, advising on environmental changes that support those with communication difficulties. To act as Rehabilitation Coordinator as appropriate. To provide complex and sensitive clinical information to patients and carers in clear, accessible and empathetic format, both in written and verbal form. To contribute to instrumental assessments (VF/FEES) and assist in the training and supervision of other SLT staff in these assessments as appropriate. To introduce low and high tech communication aids as appropriate and train the patient, their family and friends and the staff on using alternative and augmentative communication aid systems or to refer on to the communication aid therapist at Bowley Close. To independently manage a caseload of clients with complex needs. To provide and contribute to the development of an effective Occupational Therapy Service by demonstration of clinical reasoning through assessment and management of patients referred to the service ensuring a high professional standard of care. To perform occupational analysis and risk evaluation leading to the formulation of intervention options which reduce the consequence of disability and optimise the service users functional ability and independence. To use a range of standardised and non standardised assessment tools and techniques to identify presenting strengths and difficulties. To refine treatment techniques in line with most recent evidence of clinical effectiveness by evaluating and implementing key developments and promoting discussion within the Occupational Therapy Service. To devise occupational therapy programmes which may be implemented and supported by other members of the multidisciplinary team. To fulfil legal requirements and demonstrate clinical reasoning within documentation. To actively ensure the implementation of and adherence to issues associated with clinical governance, policies and procedures of Bromley Healthcare and the Standards of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. To use a client centred goal focussed approach using a range of specialist treatment interventions, and to continually evaluate these in order to determine further needs. We are looking for a motivated, skilled, and experienced Nurse to join our Community Mental Health Services in Bromley East ICMP Team. The post is based at Carlton Parade, Orpington, Kent.

The Community Stroke Rehab Team provides stroke specialist rehabilitation for Enfield residents aged 18+ with an NCL GP. Care is provided in people’s home and local communities dependent on their functional goals. It is a friendly multidisciplinary team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and neuropsychology. We have generic rehabilitation assistants to support people to carry out treatment plans set by the therapists.
