Main responsibilities To provide leadership for change and service improvement within Suspected Skin Cancer Pathways. To advance the development and practice of cancer nursing in line with national recommendations and standards where available for Suspected Skin Cancer. To collaborate with Allied Healthcare Professionals and Consultants, ensuring the advancement of cancer care and support through a combined approach. To liaise closely with the other Clinical and non-clinical workforce within Lancashire and South Cumbria to implement the Virtual Centralised Triage for Suspected Skin Cancer. To have understanding and insight of the implemented digital platform and liaise with company staff to ensure safe and timely patient care To maintain clinical competence and credibility, acting as a role model for best practice, ensuring that nursing care is provided to a high standard, in response to changing services and patient needs. To work alongside the Clinical Lead for Skin as the Trust leads for Suspected Skin Cancer Transformation to implement recommendations. Ensure strong professional leadership, working with the members of the MDT including Skin consultants, ACPs and Clinical Nurse Specialists to support high standards of care. To ensure patients, carers and their families are empowered and educated in respect of self-care and sustainable lifestyle changes. To work horizontally within the Lancashire and South Cumbria advising and supporting senior nursing colleagues on the delivery of local cancer services. The main duties and responsibilities described above are not exhaustive and the post holder can expect to take on other responsibilities or specific tasks as required. Further, over time it is likely the remit and requirements of the role will evolve, and the post holder will be expected to adjust their working approach and style to accommodate these. CLINICAL DUTIES 1.1. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the Military Veterans service. 1.2. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the departments referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary. 1.3. Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients. 1.4. Use highly developed communication skills in working with veterans to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties 1.5. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients in line with the service. 1.6. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT and other psychological formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language. 1.7. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate. 1.8. Complete all requirements relating to data collection and reporting within the service. 1.9. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols 1.10. The Senior Dental Nurse will be responsible for the recruitment, training and development of Dental Nurses. This will include ongoing in-service training and developments for existing staff, assisting with the appointment of new staff, induction and training programmes for students attached to each department. The post holder will be responsible for the maintenance of Dental Nurse rotas. This will include recording leave, time owing, sickness of Dental Nurses/reception staff/dental therapist and Dental Officers. Ensure a good rapport is established between Dental Nurses and patients both in the clinic and whilst doing reception duties such as telephone manner and queries. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring at operational level the smooth running of clinic sessions held within Dental Clinics and other appropriate locations throughout the area. The post holder will be the main point of contact for general queries, regarding services provided by the department, including requests for special services, domiciliary visits etc. and will undertake the necessary arrangements with the Dental Officers for the provision of these services. The post holder will undertake appraisal of support staff including KSF framework and assist staff on the preparation of portfolios demonstrating personal competencies.

Acute Pain Team participating in the ongoing development of the acute pain service and supporting the utilisation of anaesthetic and pain management techniques Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to provide evidence-based pain management Provide advanced and competent nursing care to patients with pain problems and prescribe/recommend treatment plans following assessment and evaluation. This may include correspondence that is time-sensitive (such as complaints) ensuring information is dictated and typed within any designated time limits. Type medico-legal summaries, maintain medico-legal files and liaise with legal department in respect of medico-legal cases Manage patient investigation results effectively including maintaining systems for monitoring and retrieving outstanding investigations and responsibility for chasing up missing/delayed results.
