Band 5 Staff Nurse Post Adult Rehabilitation Division

We are delighted to announce we have a number of vacancies for a Band 5 Staff Nurses within our Rehabilitation Division. Full time posts available in our High Dependency female bed inpatient unit in Bolton and at our Male bedded Open Community Rehabilitation Inpatient Services in Manchester and Salford. The vacancies are permanent positions.

Rehabilitation Units provide in-patient assessment, care and rehabilitation for adults with complex and enduring mental health difficulties who are aged 18 upwards andthe length of stay will depend on progress through the pathway and appropriate risk management for service users. Our community rehab service also offers Step Down and Outreach service. The role of the Staff Nurse involves providing leadership, managing junior staff and acting as shift coordinator on the ward on a day-to-day basis; responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating programs of care along with the service user in line with the recovery model and working in accordance with the CPA process.

The post holder will be responsible for a small caseload, coordinating care as a Primary Nurse/Associate Nurse where required; liaising with Care Coordinators and outside agencies; will also support the Ward manager and Deputies by monitoring clinical standards, undertaking individual projects, and supporting changes within the service. A completed preceptorship is desirable but not essential as we can provide preceptorship to newly qualified nurses.

The Rehabilitation Unit will operate a Trust Shift System whichincludes nights, weekends and public holidays.

•Recovery focused group work for people who use the service and/or their family members (e.g. running ‘Friends and Family’ groups).

Due to a change in service provision an exciting opportunity for a Band Six Deputy Chief Pharmacy Technician post within Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust has been created. This post will be technical lead for our new cluster area covering Meadowbrook, Laurette house and Moorside Unit. An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for the GMMH Addictions Service. We provide a range of services for people with substance misuse issues through our Achieve partnership in the community (across the boroughs of Bury, Bolton, Salford and Trafford). We are delighted to invite applications for a senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist for Salford adult inpatient services based at Meadowbrook Unit. Following significant investment in inpatient Psychology provision trust-wide, we are recruiting a full-time 8a or band 7-8a preceptorship Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. We are pleased to be able to offer these posts to individuals already working in an 8a capacity or those who are seeking development opportunities from a band 7-8a (on achievement of agreed competencies). Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will find every day exciting. Your role will be varied and stimulating and will include a mix of direct and indirect work. You will support the teams to develop formulations to support care, contribute to staff training and supervision of delivery of brief psychological interventions. Direct work will include psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions, both on a one-to-one basis and group format. As part of the clinical team on the wards you will work with ward managers, occupational therapists, nurses and doctors to ensure that inpatient admissions are therapeutic and support each person’s recovery. You will supervise the work of the unit’s Assistant Psychologists in delivering group and structured individual sessions.

Working as part of the psychology team and broader MDT, the postholder will provide a clinical psychology service to the 3 adult acute wards and 1 psychiatric intensive care unit in Salford. You will be well supported by and work closely with the service’s principal inpatient Clinical Psychologist, Senior Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Psychologists to deliver the highest quality clinical psychology service to the inpatient wards where you will be based. Each ward is staffed by a full multidisciplinary team who always put service user care at the heart of their practice and work on a model of trauma-informed, least restrictive practice. You will work with them to ensure that the psychological needs of service users and staff are understood and met.

A vacancy has arisen, for a keen and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our friendly Older Adult Community Mental Health team. We are looking for Occupational Therapists who have existing experience as a Band 5 and are looking to develop their knowledge, skills and experience, in a supportive environment, with a strong and clear Occupational Therapy ethos. We also welcome applicants who are already practicing at Band 6 level but are looking for something new and exciting.

You will join the Occupational Therapists, within a well-established multi-disciplinary community mental health team (CMHT), based at Humphrey Booth Resource Centre in Salford. The CMHT provides a specialist mental health service to older adults and their carers across Salford.

The post holder will hold a caseload of service users who’s needs are around Occupational identity, performance and participation. The OT team consists of a band 5-6 progression Occupational Therapist, two band 6 Senior Occupational Therapists, and a Band 7 Occupational Therapy Senior Practitioner. The CMHT provides a specialist mental health service to older adults and their carers across Salford. The Occupational Therapy pathway is well established and is continuing to develop in line with forward thinking Community Transformation plans, which support our professionals to practice in a way which closely aligns to their professional training and backgrounds.

You will be provided with a full range of mandatory training and CPD opportunities with a particular emphasis on developing skills within the Model of Human Occupation.

We have an involved and supportive professional lead for AHP in Salford and a newly appointed Director of AHP’s for GMMH.

A Vacancy at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.


This is an opportunity to join a successful service in a post that has been well established

The post consists of assessment and management of patients with severe and enduring mental illness in the community of Salford. There is ample opportunity for development of a range of skills, including domiciliary assessments; MDT interactions; report writing, MHA work; teaching, training and supervision of junior doctors and medical students; managerial, research and clinical governance work.

Prescott house itself has around 800 patients, the current active case load for this position is 160 patients on standard care. The successful applicant would assess 2- 3 new patients a weeks, and conduct 3 follow up clinics, each with 5 to 6 patients.

The candidate will be expected to be section 12 approved or be eligible for approval and become involved in Mental Health Act work for patients in both roles.

The post holder will work with Dr Ingram as part of the CMHT at Prescott House and would be managerially responsible to him. The post is community based with most work being undertaken at Prescott House. This will include new patients, follow up appointments, attending the weekly meeting with the CMHT, taking part in CPA meetings and conducting home visits. There will be at least 2 new patient assessments per week and 10-15 follow up patients (which will include CPA reviews) spread over two clinic sessions and a third flexible clinical session, which allows for the possibility of emergency work – this amounts to no more than 1PA per month of MHA work and associated clinical admin.

The post holder would be expected to see emergency assessments following a duty assessment (by care co-ordinator rota) and would also be expected to engage in Section 12 work for patients allocated to their teams. The CMHT has the acute assessment role of a crisis team as per the local Acute Care Pathway (ACP) which means that all referrals to secondary services are triaged in community teams and assessed before referral on. The post-holder would provide advice and support to other members of the team, primarily for their own case-load but also for new patient queries and general advice.

A great opportunity to join the integrated mental health team as a senior support worker at HMP Forest Bank .

The successful candidate would provide support and time to an allocated group of service users with secondary service mental health needs who are in custody at HMP Forest Bank. To provide both mental and physical health support to our service users that are under the secondary mental health team. The post requires competencies in physical health such as ECG/taking bloods.

The service users under the team are those with severe and enduring mental health needs and neurodevelopmental conditions within a custodial setting. The successful candidate would also assist Case Managers in their assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual care plans.

The post holder would also work effectively in providing multidisciplinary care, working with internal and external agencies. The post holder will also provide support to the running of weekly psychiatry clinics with the team visiting psychiatrist.

To provide support and time to an allocated group of service users with secondary service mental health needs who are in custody.





The post holder would have responsibility for providing the link into the care planning process for several individual service users. This will include arranging psychiatric reviews and possibly liaising with other HMP establishments if a service user is transferred.

To ensure that service users engage effectively with the agreed Care Plan and access appropriate services provided on a regular and consistent basis. Maintain an awareness of risk enhancing factors and past risk behavior, ensuring that appropriate consideration has been given to the nature of previous offences where appropriate prior to engagement in 1:1 work. To be alert to any changes in the service users mental state, functioning or social situation and report them to the case manager/line manager. Promote social inclusion through developing opportunities in areas such as employment, volunteering and education aimed at building a positive independent identity and confidence building for move on into the community. Provide support and advice regarding move on options, supporting the individual with regards making housing applications and referring in to appropriate services. Liaison with relevant internal agencies to achieve this. Developing a rapport based upon companionship and befriending but within appropriate and transparent boundaries. Contribute to the CPA process in terms of pre-release planning.
