Located just outside the Universal Orlando™ theme parks, our Lakewood Regional Support Facility serves as the central operation for all our on-site hotels. Lakewood provides resources to the hotels for various departments, including Human Resources, Purchasing, Accounting, Security, Group Reservations, Telecommunications, Technology and Laundry.
Purpose:
The Director of Compensation & Compliance has direct oversight of Loews Hotels Universal Orlando compensation and compliance programs to include related workflow and system integration. The role is responsible for ensuring HR processes adhere to Loews Hotels & Co standards and comply with applicable Federal, State and Local laws.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of team relating to the HR compensation and compliance function.
- Manages compensation programs for Loews Hotels Universal Orlando to include job offers, wage increases, and other compensation related changes.
- Proactively monitors internal and external factors that may influence wage practices and presents recommendations at quarterly Regional Compensation Committee meetings.
- Ensures practices are compliant with company’s exempt salary structure and guidelines.
- Responsible for developing and managing non-exempt compensation guidelines.
- Oversees messaging to team members to promote clarity and reinforce the value of compensation programs.
- Prepares and presents annual wage budget proposals.
- Administers the company’s short term incentives program for Orlando properties.
- Analyzes and modifies HR processes, workflows, and practices to establish conformity with Loews Hotels & Co standards and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Stays abreast of regulatory, market, relevant case-law decisions, and HR industry trends to help formulate changes to operating standards.
- Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as: EEO, affirmative action, FCRA, FLSA, joint-employment, NLRA, FMLA, and all other pertinent laws related to the HR function. Department may be responsible for auditing and executing regulatory compliance programs.
- Responsible for HR Compliance function's daily activities including record keeping, auditing, data integrity and work process flow compliance.
- Plans and conducts HR audits throughout the year to adhere compliance with applicable standards.
- Oversees compliance of the I-9 program to include work authorization tracking.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong acumen related to Human Resource laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Working knowledge of HRIS systems, experience with Workday preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
- 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience. Experience should include responsibilities for ensuring operational practices were compliant with employment regulations.
- At least 2 years of experience leading and directing a team.
- Experience in auditing and/or project management strongly preferred.
