Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery (Locally Employed Doctor). This post is based at the Nightingale Centre, Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

The Breast Surgery Unit at MFT is the largest unit in the country and is looking to appoint a Clinical Fellow with an interest in breast to join our team for a period of a 12 months (potentially renewable with mutual agreement) with no on-call commitment.

This post will suit candidates who wish to develop skills in both complex oncoplastic breast surgery.

You will be working in the family and educational setting managing the wider team under the leadership of the Registered Manager, supporting the young people and the family unit with the use of Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) Techniques. This ground-breaking new service will be using PBS techniques to manage the behaviour of the young people that we support, giving the family the best skills and support to manage this.

The purpose of an Assistant Manager is to deputise in the Registered Manager’s absence, taking responsibility for the management of the service, including the staff team, and the welfare of the children and young people. We have a complex respiratory caseload where we provide specialist respiratory assessment and treatment plans with MDT/consultant guidance. Our pulmonary rehabilitation service recently became nationally accredited part of only a small number of services to achieve this standard. We use evidence based practice to guide care in the community. The team has a role in assessing and following up patients requiring home oxygen. The COPD and asthma reviews for in-patients follow the requirements of the discharge bundle of care contributing to the National Respiratory Audit Programme.

Applicants will be expected to develop a sound knowledge of respiratory conditions and to undertake appropriate specialist training within the post. Are you a passionate and driven Occupational Therapist with the desire to support people in regaining and maintaining their own independence? OPAL House is a specialist reablement unit based at Wythenshawe Hospital in south Manchester designed to support older people in the transition from the acute hospital site to their own home following a period of acute illness. You will undertake occupational therapy assessment and treatment with the specific aim to instil functional independence and support their physical and mental wellbeing.

You need to have specialist assessment and treatment skills to support and inform discharge plans. You will be able to manage a varied caseload autonomously and be able to work within a multidisciplinary team.

You will support the Senior Practitioner in the day-to-day running of the team and contribute to service development. You will have an interest in working in frailty and acute medicine.

You will supervise staff including band 4 Therapy Technicians. You will support, train and educate others. You will maintain your own continuing professional development. You will be supported to develop personally and professionally within this role.

To perform occupational therapy assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, and ensure safe and effective discharge. To develop and deliver individualised assessment and treatment programme. This will involve liaison with community services, day services, the voluntary sector and other service providers.

To be responsible for the management your own caseload, with support and supervision as required. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and case conferences.

To be able to carry out comprehensive generic therapy assessments and interventions in line with best practice such as the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment framework, in a ward setting, identifying required interventions, supporting timely discharge and directing patients towards the most appropriate pathways of care.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

To supervise, educate and assess the performance of occupational therapy students (this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the level of clinical practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification). This role is supported through access to a clinical educator’s course if required.

To support the therapy team lead in the ongoing development of the OPAL House therapy service.

Applications are invited for a Senior Locally Employed Doctor in Heart failure or Advanced Echocardiography within the Cardiology department in the Manchester Heart Institute. The post is based at Wythenshawe Hospital.
Due to the short-term nature of the role, the successful candidate must hold a current registration with the GMC at the time of application, whether it be an active licence, ceased licence or a pending application - MFT cannot support GMC Sponsorship for vacancies less than 12 months fixed term. Candidates who do not fit this criteria will not progress through to the shortlisting stage.

Heart failure both new onset and chronic which requires close management to avoid admission. The role also takes part in the WTWA senior on call rota supporting cardiology and the emergency
primary PCI service which covers all of GM.

You should have undergone at least 3 years specialist training in general cardiology and have some experience in Heart Failure or
echocardiography.
This post is ideal for someone wishing to enhance their sub-specialty knowledge and experience in either Heart Failure and will include exposure to the catheter labs, outpatient clinics and supporting the inpatient wards.
The successful candidate will receive advanced training in heart failure . Experience working in a cardiology department in the UK will be important for this post due to the busy and challenging nature of the work of a registrar in our tertiary cardiac centre.

The main focus of this role is to improve and be trained in Heart Failure or under the supervision of the consultant team.
There is an expectation of the successful postholder to fully contribute to Heart Failure service at Wythenshawe Hospital.
Furthermore, the postholder will support the consultant team with specific outpatient clinics, which will be selected to complement the postholder's
training needs in conjunction with supporting the service with its secondary and tertiary centre work.
There is also a commitment to the Cardiology middle-grade on-call rota, which supports the hospital's acute inpatient work and the wider Greater
Manchester footprint as a key point of contact for the tertiary centre.

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Locally Employed Doctor to join the MFT Thoracic Surgery service, based at Wythenshawe Hospital. The post have been created following expansion of lung cancer screening services across Greater Manchester, and at a time of considerable growth for the Thoracic Surgery service, which remains one of the largest lung surgery centres within the UK and the only service in Greater Manchester.

It is an exciting time to join our team. Our Thoracic Surgery team will be performing more than 900 anatomical lung resections per year and around 50% of those resections are performed using minimally invasive techniques, including Robotically Assisted Thoracic Surgery (RATS).

The team consists of 9 cardiothoracic registrars, who are a combination of Senior Clinical Fellows (SCFs), Associate Specialists and Higher Surgical Trainees (HSTs). The number of HSTs in the department at any time ranges from two to five. All colleagues working on this rota will be allocated to a named consultant surgeon and will undertake their core activities with that named consultant. This will include pairing with the named consultant surgeon of the week (as named Registrar of the Week RoW). Consultant & registrar pairings will be rotated on a 6 or 12-monthly basis. SCFs are afforded the same training opportunities as HSTs. The successful candidate can expect to attend operating theatres and outpatient clinics on a regular basis, with the opportunity to gain experience across the spectrum of thoracic surgery.

Surgery

You’ll play an important part of the surgical team by preparing all the necessary equipment for surgery.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join our dynamic, friendly, hard working nursing team within the interventional aspect of our pain management service. The post holder will be responsible for caring for patients throughout their day case journey. This includes pre-operative assessment, admission to the department, perioperative period, recovery, and discharge planning. Applicants should ideally have experience within an acute care setting, theatre, recovery, or day case unit. An exciting opportunity has arisen on our Band 6 Occupational Therapy rotation for a motivated Occupational Therapist who is ready to develop their clinical expertise further and increase their level of responsibility and challenge.

Based within the Integrated Community Rehabilitation Service in south Manchester, the post will rotate across 3 areas, Community Therapy, Community Stroke and Intermediate Care. In due course the rotation may be changed or expanded across other clinical areas in line with service developments.

You will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload of varying diagnoses and complexity and have a flexible approach to working. You will need excellent communication and organisational skills to be able to work effectively with both their OT and multi-disciplinary team colleagues



We are looking for applicants who are passionate about delivering high quality interventions, engage in service improvements and support greater integration with community services and other providers.

The post is full timeMonday – Friday. Some areas of the rotation work extended hours. Amending normal work patterns in these areas is optional. Secondment opportunities will be considered.

We are looking for a motivated Physiotherapist with relevant skills and experience to join the Discharge to Assess South Team on a secondment basis for 12 months. An opportunity to work in a supportive team, supporting a busy, productive service as part of the Manchester Community Response Teams.

The Discharge to Assess Team supports timely assessment of patients at home at the point of discharge to identify health and social care needs that can be delivered in the community for up to 7 days. All referrals are received from Hospital Wards. The Discharge to Assess Team currently works from 8am until 8pm 7 days per week.

The team consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, healthcare support workers and administrative support to enable an efficient assessment and review service for all patients referred into the service. The Discharge to Assess team also work closely with reablement and social services to ensure effective care needs are met by the right people, at the right time.

Please be aware you must hold a valid UK driving licence and have daily access to a car to apply for this role.
