We are inviting applications for a Senior Clinical Fellow to join the Colorectal Department. This is a full-time, 12-month post, available to commence as soon as possible, but a suitable start date could be arranged with the successful applicant.

The post is ideally suited to fully registered doctors seeking to extend their existing experience of colorectal surgical services, in an experienced and supportive department.

The post-holder will be required to work across both Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley District General Hospital sites.

Previous experience in General Surgery is essential.


Ward Duties
• Supervise the clinical & teaching activities of junior trainees.
• Assess all new patients & liaise with the Consultant and other colleagues.
• Maintain appropriate clinical progress notes in the case notes.
• Keep relatives informed regarding the progress of the patient & obtain Informed Consent for operations/procedures co-ordinating with the Consultant as appropriate.

Operating Theatre
• Attend the regular operating sessions of the Clinical Team to assist with major surgery & be trained in skills of increasing complexity under the close supervision of the Consultant.
• Assist in the operating sessions of other teams from time to time and co-ordinate, assist with/perform emergency operations.

Outpatient Clinics

Assist with the regular outpatient clinics including the ambulatory emergency general surgical clinic under the guidance & supervision of the Consultant.

On-Call

Currently there is a 1:10 full shift system in operation, with prospective cover for annual leave and study leave.

Responsible forthe care of all Surgical inpatients including those in general ITU, Paediatric and other wards. This demands a goodclinical awareness of all inpatients &appropriate communicationsbetween colleagues.


Administrative


The main administrative duties include:

• Dictate discharge summaries.
• Dictate outpatient clinic letters & other relevant clinical correspondence.
• Dictate operating notes/write operation notes in conjunction with the Consultant.


Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is a major acute trust in the North West. General Surgical services are currently delivered by a unified department across the Royal Preston and Chorley and South Ribble Hospital sites.

Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow to work within the Plastic Surgery Department. This would be ideally suited to fully registered doctors seeking to extend their existing exposure in the speciality. There may be a requirement to participate in the on-call rota working alongside middle grade colleagues.

In this role you will be working within a supportive and educationally focused environment. Although this post is not recognised for training purposes, considerable 'hands on' training is provided in line with skills and experience.

This is a full time post fixed term post for 12 months.

Previous experience in Plastic Surgery is essential.



The unit treats the full range of general adult and paediatric plastic surgery conditions including patients with major and minor burns. Microsurgical procedures are performed on elective and emergency patients. Day case surgery under both local and general anaesthetic is carried out

Morbidity and mortality audit is performed monthly, and quarterly clinical governance meetings are help. The Junior Trust Doctor will be expected to organise a major topic audit in liaison with clinical audit department.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day care of in-patients and be expected to attend operating sessions and outpatient clinics (depending on the Consultant attachment).

Weekly teaching meetings – with Consultant input - are held.



Undergraduate medical student teaching has commenced in 2003. The Plastic Surgery Directorate has active links with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) with trainees undertaking laboratory research at the University. Considerable opportunities exist for research and development, which are integral to teaching hospital status.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will includemandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. NHS Lancashire & South Cumbria Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression offer this exciting opportunity to train to become a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP).
We are looking to recruit a number of trainee PWPs to work in many of our Lancashire & South Cumbria teams:

The Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner training course will commence in March 2025 (at University of Central Lancashire) for 12 months. Following successful completion of the training year, the qualified PWPs will be offered a permanent Band 5 PWP role – please note this may be in a different team to the placement (subject to obtaining professional registration within 6 months of receipt of certificate of qualification) .

The training is rigorous and aims to equip individuals to be able to deliver high quality and effective Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to clients with common mental health problems.

Before applying please ensure you meet these minimum requirements: -
• Evidence of either recent Level 6 study (degree level) from a recognised institute of higher education for postgraduate study or evidence of Level 5 study (diploma level) for graduate study
• Evidence of working with people who have experienced a common mental health problem
• An understanding of anxiety and depression including the wider impact for the whole person
• All trainees must be able to complete the required training days, and be able to carry out the academic assignments required for the course outside of paid hours
• All trainees will need to be able to attend training at UCLan in Preston and also their local team placement base (in Lancashire or South Cumbria) in person
• All trainees will commit to work for LSCFT for a minimum of 2 years post-qualification, failing which you may be required to repay the salary for days at university during your academic year.
• Once qualified as a PWP, it is a requirement for the role to register with BPS or BABCP within 6 months of receipt of certificate of qualification and thereafter to maintain professional body registration for the duration of your employment as a qualified PWP.

Salary: Band 3. Basic pay £24,071.00 rising to £25,674.00 after two years. Call Handlers working in an integrated call centre will be the person managing a variety of calls from a wide range of different patients. Calls may range from people requiring general medical advice, emergency dental treatment or looking to arrange ambulance transport ahead of an appointment. The call handler gathers as much information as possible, where applicable, assess the call, and provide clear, correct advice that could potentially save a life, whilst remaining calm under pressure.

Handling a wide range of calls and thriving amid the challenges this presents, requires an outstanding amount of resilience and emotional strength as you will be supporting unwell and upset patients at their time of need. Your support will make a difference to lives and requires people who can be there for those that need it, sometimes in the face of adversity and trauma.

This is a highly pressurised environment where you may be in contact with people in extremely stressful situations; our callers can be upset, angry, anxious, or hysterical. People call the ambulance service for a variety of reasons, and you would need to be confident in dealing with a range of people in varying situations. You will be working in a fast-paced environment and must be able to adapt to change quickly and must be aware of the stresses of the role and what impact this may have on you as an individual, considering these points carefully before applying.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Successful candidates will have to deliver correct care advice and guidance to callers’ dependent upon the reason for the call. Full training will be given to the successful candidates and an excellent career structure is available for future career progression. A full range of shifts will need to be covered, including bank holidays, public holidays, weekends and may include working nights. If your shift falls on a bank holiday, it will form part of your working hours. This includes the Easter and the festive period. Due to the nature of the hours only applicants over the age of 18 can apply for this role.

We are currently looking for full-time call handlers. However hours considered will be 30+, Please note: full-time training for up to 10 weeks must be committed to.

Some examples start times are Monday to Friday from 16:00 hours and weekends from 08:00 hours. There is an expectation that candidates are flexible and available to accommodate working a number of set shifts per week including weekends.

Assessments Centres and interviews will take place on the weekend of 11th January 2025 at Broughton site. "Smile" isn't something our patients need to do for you to take their photograph, however you will need to have a friendly smile to put your patients at ease if you wish to become a clinical photographer in our small but perfectly formed team. We have two new posts to help with our growing telederm service and are looking for qualified clinical photographers to join our team .

We provide a comprehensive clinical photography service to all specialities offering a varied and diverse workload.

As a band 5 clinical photographer you will hold a degree in photography alongside a post graduate certificate in Clinical Photography or equivalent, professional membership of the Institute of Medical Illustrators and be registered with the AHCS.

For those candidates who don't meet these criteria, we will consider applicants with a degree in photography or equivalent for a training position whilst you undertake the relevant clinical photography qualification under Annex 21. You will be required to become AHCS registered and maintain yearly registration on completion.

The post is full time, 37.5 hours Mon - Fri although this is open to change if service demands change.

You will also help provide a comprehensive Telederm service to ensure the Trust meet the criteria for the skin cancer pathway.
