We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced nurse to join the Royal Marsden Hospital Pain Management Team as Band 7 Pain Clinical Nurse Specialist.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will work as a core member of the multi-disciplinary team using your clinical expertise to co-ordinate high quality care and treatment of patients requiring pain services across both sites (one in Chelsea, London, and one in Sutton, Surrey). This will include supporting both for in-patients and for outpatient clinic.

The role will include provision of formal and informal education and participation in audit and research projects. The successful applicants will be required to work across both sites .



The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be expected to demonstrate a higher level of practice in both their direct care of patients and in their ability to plan and develop services to support cancer care. Through the key skills of leadership, innovation, research and clinical expertise they will facilitate and deliver patient-centred, compassionate, safe, and effective care.

The CNS is a core member within the multidisciplinary care team (MDT) and through demonstration of these higher-level skills, will work collaboratively with clinicians and service managers to promote, develop, review, and redesign the relevant services which are responsive and tailored to patient’s needs.

• To sustain a high-quality specialist service for the patient, from diagnosis through all stages of the disease and actively provide optimum liaison and continuity of care.

The post holder will join an established multi-disciplinary CAMHS which is responsible for providing Tier 2 mental health services within the borough. The post holder will work in Hammersmith and Fulham Community CAMHS Team with young people aged 0- 18 years. The clinic setting is based in central Hammersmith and there is some limited travel to other parts of the borough to attend community settings.

You will also offer line management and Clinical Supervision to junior CBT therapist and CBT trainees in the team and support some aspects of the developing wider CAMHS CBT pathway.

Clinical Care
• To attend cardiac arrests and medical emergencies within the Trust and perform as an expert practitioner, demonstrating advanced clinical competence and knowledge.

Clinical Practice:

The post holder should have expertise in cardiac care provision with a specific interest in Heart Failure. The post holder should have an extensive experience of cardiology and the ability to work autonomously.

As an autonomous practitioner the post holder will be required to manage their own caseloads including nurse-led clinics, telephone consultations and heart failure programmes with support from the lead Heart Failure Nurse. They will also provide support, management and education to cardiac in-patients within the Trust.

The post holder will be actively involved in the development of the heart failure services both internally and externally. This will include developing digital initiatives including Virtual wards, undertake audits, quality improvement activities and participate in the strategic development of the service.

This allies with the direction of travel within the NHS for smarter ways of working.

This is a developmental role in which the successful applicant will be supported to develop their skills and knowledge in heart failure both formally and in clinical practice. The inpatient Heart Failure team is a cross-site, integrated multidisciplinary team and we aim to work collaboratively to deliver care that meets best practice in heart failure across both sites of the Trust. This post will be cross-site working at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and at West Middlesex University Hospital and the post holder will be expected to contribute to the service as a whole under the direction of the lead specialist nurse for heart failure.

This is a developmental role in which the successful applicant will be supported to develop their skills and knowledge in heart failure both formally and in clinical practice. Specifically related to drug titration, patient monitoring, patient education, the assessment and management of heart failure patients and end of life care as per national and local guidelines on the care and management of heart failure.

The post holder will be supported to manage their own caseload, which would include nurse-led clinics, virtual clinics, and telephone consultations. This would incorporate education to heart failure patients in both the inpatients and out patients setting

The post holder would also be involved in the ongoing development and facilitation of the virtual wards, the use of digital resources, the development of Remote Monitoring and utilising the ambulatory services. The post holder will provide a leadership role and forge In addition forging links with those involved in the ongoing development of the heart failure service.

The Heart Failure Specialist Nurse provides expertise in all aspects of cardiac care provision with a specific interest in Heart Failure. The post holder will be an experienced practitioner with experience of cardiology and will develop the ability to work autonomously

They will assist in undertaking regular audits, quality improvement activities and participate in the strategic development of the service. The post holder will also actively disseminate experiences through publication, conference presentations and participate in local heart failure and nursing research and national working parties.

The Royal Marsden has a vital role in championing change and improvement in cancer care through research and innovation, education and leading-edge practice. The Urology Clinical Trials Research Unit focuses on research delivery for patients primarily with prostate and bladder cancers. The trials you will be working on are phase 1-3 trials which are sponsored by commercial companies or academic institutes, where The Royal Marsden is a participating site.

The Clinical Trial Administrator role is a pivotal role, largely focusing on data management by the means of electronic data entry and resolving data queries. You will be in close liaison with monitors and auditors from external pharmaceutical and CRO companies, as well as academic institutions, with a shared goal of ensuring that good quality data is recorded and reported.

You will also partake in administrative tasks such as preparing documents for clinics, assisting monitoring visits, requesting imaging reports electronically, maintaining trackers and filing.

The job is based at our Chelsea site, and due to the handling of paper documents, we’re happy to offer one day of remote working. You will be joining a small, fast-paced team, and we’re constantly looking for ways to improve and streamline the service.

The primary focus of the role is data entry and data management – ensuring that data is entered in a timely manner and following the ALCOA principles, and that data queries are responded to swiftly. Data Management
• Data Entry- Transcribing data from paper source document worksheets/ paper CRFs (case report forms) and entering them electronically into a database as part of EDC (electronic data capture).
• Data Queries- Data entered electronically are reviewed by monitors and may raise queries about certain inputs – the Clinical Trial Administrator will need to respond to these queries, either by re-reviewing source documents to look for any typos or discrepancies, or by liaising with the clinical team for further information.
• Database Training- Being trained and using various databases and system, with the ability to adapt between platforms with ease.
• Imaging requests and upload– to submit electronic requests for anonymised imaging and imaging reports, and then upload them electronically onto web-based portals
• Navigating Digital Health Records– being able to navigate the EPIC system (digital health records) to access patient records
• Maintaining trackers– updating spreadsheets with information such as when patient visits have occurred


Assisting Monitoring Visits


• Arranging visits– liaising with the trial monitor/CRA to schedule monitoring visits according to protocol schedule, as well as both of your availability. This includes requesting IT access for the monitor.
• Facilitating the visit– greeting the monitor at Main Reception, and escorting them to the monitoring room, ensuring their IT access works and they have access to the patient and trial folders
• Monitoring report– after the visit, a monitoring report will be sent to the research team with a list of findings. The CTA should close any open findings relating to data.
