The Department of General Anaesthesia sits within the Division of Surgery; however, the wider anaesthesia service bridges four clinical divisions of UHBW: Surgery (general anaesthesia and critical care), Specialised Services (cardiac anaesthesia), Women’s and Children’s (paediatric and obstetric anaesthesia) and Weston. The department of anaesthesia is seeking locum consultants in general anaesthesia to join the team based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. The successful applicant will join a group of 45 substantive consultants within the general anaesthesia group. The post will be offered at 10.5 PAs.

The applicant must hold FRCA (UK) or equivalent and be within 6 months of their CCT date at the time of interview. We are looking for applicants who are prepared to work flexibly to ensure smooth service delivery. More detailed person specification is available with the job description.

This post will be based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary with one clinical day each week at Weston General Hospital. The post will address a flexible service requirement for adult general anaesthetic services for maxillofacial, ENT, dental, obstetrics, gynaecology, thoracic, upper & lower GI and ophthalmic surgery, fixed lines, the acute pain service, chronic pain and pre-operative assessment. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the predictable out-of-hours weekend rota across both sites.

The role will be split across the following hospital sites: Bristol Royal Infirmary, Weston General Hospital, St Michael’s Hospital, Bristol Eye Hospital and South Bristol Community Hospital.

Our client, a collaborative and nurturing international firm, is looking for a Property & Casualty Claims Handler to join their vibrant and growing Insurance Group in Bristol. The firm has a well-established client base, acting for the vast majority of household and commercial property Insurers in the market, as well as some large insureds and cover holders. The team handles a wide variety of claims arising out of property damage, including (amongst other things) fire, water, subsidence, construction and impact damage.

This role is based in our client's Bristol office, however you will be able to work remotely from home for part of the week if desired, as the firm operates a hybrid working policy.

Your new role
The role largely involves running a case load of subrogated recovery matters on behalf of a range of insurers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to run a property recovery claim from first instruction, through the pre-action stage and into proceedings when necessary. A familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules is therefore necessary.

The work will be varied, interesting and challenging and where you show you can run the cases successfully, you will be given autonomy to stamp your own mark on the files; there will be the opportunity to work on matters varying in value from £10,000 all the way up to millions of pounds. You will also get involved with business development and client initiatives, where appropriate.

In addition, you can expect to:

Manage a large caseload of Property Insurance claims.
Deliver a high quality and timely output to clients, ensuring high levels of client service and alignment with agreed working practices and client service level agreements.
Capture and collate required Management Information in accordance with agreed practice for clients.
Contribute to the development and improvement of the team's service, support, processes and procedures.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have prior Claims Handling and/or litigation experience, including running a case load. Experience of Insurance is preferable but not essential. Our client is happy to consider candidates either with a Law degree, those working towards ACII, CILEx or equivalent legal qualification, or alternatively you might have significant experience in claims, with technical knowledge and experience. Candidates should have litigation experience and a familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules.

An understanding of how to provide excellent customer service is essential, and you will be hardworking, enthusiastic and motivated, with competent skills in Microsoft Office. Previous experience of using a case management system is desirable.

The role of the Solicitor is to support the Healthcare Legal Services Team in the provision of a dedicated in-house legal service, which includes the following core areas:



· Claims: management of clinical negligence and third party claims, in line with NHSR’s schemes. We work closely with clinicians and our Divisions to robustly defend claims, protecting the interests of the Trust.

· Inquests: support and representation of staff in the Coroner’s Court. We work closely with our local Coroners on a large portfolio of inquests.

· Healthcare advice: including but not limited to consent, capacity, data protection, Mental Capacity Act, and Mental Health Act, for both adults and children. We manage High Court Applications inhouse, at a significant cost saving to the Trust.

· Disclosure requests: assisting the police and local authority on childcare and criminal proceedings, where the Trust may not be a party to proceedings. We have experience of managing complex childcare proceedings inhouse, as the South West regional centre for children.

· Training: internal and external training on above core areas of work.

This is a very rare and exciting opportunity for a caring and motivated band 4 Assistant Practitioner/ Nurse Associate who is looking to specialise and make a difference to people with diabetes to join our dedicated, friendly, and supportive specialist multi-disciplinary team. The key responsibilities of the role will be to assist the Diabetes Specialist Nurses (DSNs) to educate and empower people with diabetes to self-manage their condition within our inpatient and outpatient services. This will include teaching new skills and enhancing existing knowledge such as insulin administration, monitoring, diabetes technology, and safety advice. You will also support the DSNs to overcome barriers which may prevent this.

Additional duties include supporting the DSNs to promote our governance agenda, educating other healthcare professionals, audit activity and liaising with pharmaceutical representatives to ensure adequate supplies of equipment and team education. Our patient cohort is frequently complex, so you will need excellent communication skills and be able to adapt your approach to provide high quality individualised care. You will be extremely sensitive to the challenges experienced by people with diabetes and have a genuine passion for the specialty. The DSNs will support the post holder to achieve role specific competencies and upon completion you will be expected to work with indirect supervision and within agreed boundaries of practice.

· Assess patient ability to self-manage diabetes and recognise when this may not be possible, and take remedial action/ escalation

· Support, educate, and empower people with diabetes to achieve self-management where possible - this may include insulin administration, blood glucose and ketone monitoring, hypoglycaemia management, steroid education, and use of diabetes technologies such as continuous glucose monitoring, and supporting DSNs to run insulin pump starts

· Delivers health promotion advice to people with diabetes under the care of the NBT diabetes service

· Works in teams, collaborating effectively with a range of colleagues

· Promotes effective communication with patients (often with complex needs), relatives, the MDT and deals with enquiries in a professional manner

· Liaises with Primary and Secondary care colleagues to promote the safe handover of patient care plans. This will include informing primary care of diabetes equipment needs and requesting appropriate follow up with the relevant service if required

· Actively contributes to service development and delivers high standard of care in accordance with national and local guidelines

· Works independently under the guidance of the DSNs, acknowledging own skills and boundaries, taking opportunities to develop self-knowledge, contributing to effective teamwork, and responding to the changing needs of the service.

· Supports the team to conduct clinical audit and contributes to the implementation of quality improvement strategies

· Checks stock levels of equipment required by the DSNs and orders as appropriate

· Liaises with pharmaceutical representatives to arrange team education/ updates on new equipment/ drug therapy

· Delivers standardised education packages in a variety of scenarios to patients and other health care professionals

· Supports DSNs with telephone advice line where appropriate and within the boundaries of competence

· Improves the safety of individuals by identifying risks to safety or experience of care and takes appropriate action, putting the best interests, needs and preferences of people first

· Keep complete, clear, accurate and timely records

· Takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and ensuring the achievement of up-to-date mandatory training

The key focus of the practice educator for practice based learning is to support learners to have a positive on boarding experience, supporting clinical assessors and supervisors as well as line managers and other key stakeholders to monitor and track learner progression and providing targeted support in practice as required to ensure positive learner experience and outcomes.

The practice educator for practice based learning will champion clinical skills provision for a diverse group of learners. • · Collaboration with practice-based learning teams, supervising complex situations, contributing to curriculum development, supporting learner progression, and ensuring effective communication across various operational and strategic forums.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term (12 month) Locum Consultant post in the Haematology Department within Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country and a major teaching and research centre for the South West.

The adult Haematology department has 16 haematology consultants who work between Bristol and Weston Hospitals based at Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre (BHOC).

The Bristol Haematology Unit offers tertiary level service for stem cell transplants, CAR T cell therapy, Haemostasis and Haemophilia, haemato-oncology, and haemoglobinopathy.

There is a strong emphasis on research with BHOC trials unit actively recruiting in over 100 trials. There are close links with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.

The successful candidate must be registered with the GMC with a valid license to practice and should have completed Specialist Training (or equivalent) and be entered on the Specialist Register of the GMC, or have a CCT date in Haematology within six months of the date of interview.

This is a fulltime (10PA) Locum Consultant post in Haematology based at the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS. This post is across both Bristol and Weston and will support the integration of haematology services in Bristol and Weston. This is a locum appointment with a view to a substantive post with a specialist interest in Laboratory Haematology and Myeloid disease. The post includes Laboratory attending on a 1 in 8 basis.

The post-holder will take part in the 3 clinics per week including two Malignant haematology clinics with a myeloid focus one in Weston and one in Bristol working alongside colleagues. There is also a Myeloma clinic in Weston working alongside the Myeloma team. In addition they will participate in a 2 week wait clinic on a rotational basis 1 in 3 or 4 weeks. Laboratory attended takes place in Bristol and involves supervision of the Laboratory SpR reporting blood films and bone marrow aspirates from Bristol and Weston, and review of Haematology outliers in Bristol. There is also an on site laboratory in Weston where blood films are reviewed and reported.

The post holder will also contribute to an email advice and guidance service for GPs for UHBW.

In its current format the post does not have out of hours but this and acute ward attending in Bristol is negotiable.

The post holder will be part of a small administrative team dealing with the daily booking and organisation of the Trust’s patient transport requirement and data management of the electronic booking system, acting as a point of contact for hospital departments, ambulance providers and sometimes patients.
