Role Purpose:

To work in liaison with the finance lead in each academy to ensure that financial transactions and internal controls are accurately recorded and reported in line with United Learning’s finance policies and procedures.

The Cluster Finance Officer will carry out their role and responsibilities in a manner which is in keeping with the values and vision of each academy within the Cluster.

The postholder will support the financial management function to ensure processes are compliant with United Learning’s policies and procedures and statutory and regulatory requirements.

About you

You will

be a talented and motivational educator, capable of supporting students to succeed;
Good honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
have professional expertise in accounting/finance
have experience of teaching on accounting and finance courses accredited by relevant PSRBs (Institute of Financial Accountants, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW)

ideally, you will have knowledge/experience of degree apprenticeships (desirable)

Your new role
As a Senior Purchase Ledger, your primary responsibilities will include controlling and setting up new approved suppliers, processing multi-currency invoices, and ensuring adherence to purchase credit and returns policies. You will monitor unfulfilled orders, liaise with internal purchasing representatives, and work closely with the 'Goods In' department to resolve discrepancies. Additionally, you will be responsible for monthly reviews of supplier account information, chasing invoices, and reconciling supplier statements. Your role will also involve managing payment runs via BACS, liaising with external stakeholders for international payments, and ensuring compliance with HMRC Duty charges. This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week on a flexible basis.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need to be a motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic. Experience of working in a high volume purchase ledger role previously is essential, with an analytical mindset. You should have a proven ability to implement rigorous controls and processes, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Proficiency in all major IT applications, including Microsoft Excel (vlookups and pivot tables), is essential.
