This position will assist the wider Estates Team with the care of the academy premises, ranging from general maintenance duties including minor repair and refurbishment works, porterage and other duties, supporting the Facilities Manager in ensuring the health and safety and security of a busy academy. The school is seeking to appoint a Pastoral Support Assistant (Lower School) to oversee our Key Stage 3 student services office.

The Hearing Impaired Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) at the Sir Geoffrey Leigh Academy includes a dedicated SRP for Hearing Impaired (HI) students with severe to profound hearing loss. The HI students are placed in tutor groups alongside their hearing peers. They are taught by the academy’s subject teachers, working in the mainstream classes for the majority of the time. The Hearing Impaired Specialist Resource Provision staff provide support, working alongside teaching staff and the SENDCo to ensure that the needs of the hearing impaired students are taken into account. Some of the students use BSL to support their spoken language so signed communication support is provided and we also use the Total Communication Approach. The academy strives to promote deaf awareness within the academy community as a whole and deaf awareness is included in the pastoral programme for all students. Although the Hearing Impaired students work primarily in their main classes for the majority of the time, interventions also take place in the Hearing Impaired SRP. The SRP base within the Inclusion Hub is used for specialist teaching, audiology and Speech and Language Therapy.

The successful candidate will be able to offer hearing impaired support in all aspects of academy life, whilst encouraging students you work closely with to become an independent learner. They will also facilitate personal, social and intellectual development of those with hearing loss. This role would suit an experienced HLTA of hearing Impaired students with relevant hearing impairment qualifications. Snowfields Academy has an opportunity for an Exams and Local Compliance Officer to join our exams department in delivering the successful provision for exams across the whole school. Our successful candidate will be able to demonstrate prior experience in the organisation and administration of both external and internal examinations including entry, delivery and analysis of data, and management of the invigilation team. This key position plays a pivotal role in the success of our students’ progress and is a busy and varied role.

The Exams Officer will liaise with school staff regarding entries will manage the daily running of the exams and must be comfortable in leading, guiding and directing staff and students in respect of the exams provision. Leigh Academy Rainham now has an exciting opportunity to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join their dedicated team to provide full support to the staff and students from September 2024. The successful candidate will ensure the good behaviour of our students and make sure students engage in their learning during short-term absence of teachers. Cover work will be supplied wherever possible for you to use as a basis for the lessons and we will also determine your subject specialisms with you as a preference. The successful candidate will be required to respond to students' general questions and provide feedback to the teacher on broad issues such as behaviour. They will not generally be expected to undertake any planning, preparation or assessment of students progress and/or development unless there is a long term absence and it is felt with additional support they can do so.

Excellent interpersonal skills are required for this post as our successful candidates need to demonstrate that they can build good rapport with staff and students alike. This is a permanent opportunity working 37 hours per week, Term Time only with an actual salary of £19,036 - £22,624 per annum (£22,714 - £27,007 full-time equivalent). The working hours are 8.00am - 4.00pm, with a 3.30pm finish on Wednesday.

The Leigh Academy is now hiring for the role of Invigilator who will join our wider established Exams Team working with us for the duration of exams throughout the year. The ideal candidates will be well organised, flexible, reliable and have experience of supervising pupils. Whilst experience is preferred, full training will be provided for the successful candidates. Whilst the role is ad-hoc, hours will be agreed with the successful candidates in advance and there will be an opportunity to work regularly during the academy's usual examination periods.

What we expect from you: The main purpose of this role is to supervise examinations and to ensure that guidelines and regulations for the integrity and security of the examination papers and procedures are followed during examination sessions. Typical duties include the following;

To ensure a calm environment to give the candidates the best possible exam experience.
To set up the examination rooms as determined by the Data and Examinations Manager.
To be aware of any needs that candidates may have during an examination.
To ensure that no inappropriate/not allowed items are brought into an examination room.
To ensure that candidates follow regulations of an exam room and to be vigilant at all times.
Ensure all candidates are aware of the information and of any notice that may affect them.
To ensure all candidates are seated according to the seating plan provided.
To ensure all candidates receive appropriate exam question papers and answer papers.
To record attendance on the appropriate attendance register.
To ensure that there is no talking or disruption for the candidates once an exam has begun.
To ensure answer scripts are collected, sorted into candidate number order and supervised as required, passing them safely to the Data and Examinations Manager for despatch.
To maintain security and confidentiality at all times.
To highlight any concerns or issues to the Data and Examinations Manager.
To assist in other activities as may reasonably be requested by from time to time.
