Ron Johnson is a highly specialised HIV/ Oncology/ Dermatology ward consisting of 19 en-suite side rooms. We are a tertiary referral unit for HIV and HIV related malignancy.

We are a dynamic ward and provide care to patients with varied nursing needs including, administering chemotherapy for patients as an in-patient, delivering excellent patient centered palliative care while supporting families through this often difficult time, we provide care for HIV positive patients and manage their various health needs. We have a highly skilled multidisciplinary team who are dedicated to our specialty and pride themselves in excellent diagnostics, treatment, holistic therapies and nursing care. Clinical Responsibilities

· To offer parents of all eligible babies the Newborn Hearing Screen whilst ensuring maximum number of inpatient babies receive a hearing screen by working flexibly where necessary.

· To maintain confidentiality of the babies and their families at all times.

· To answer any concerns parents may have prior to the screen being undertaken and communicate results in a sensitive and timely manner.

· To ensure the hearing screening programme is carried out as per national and local protocols.

· To demonstrate a high level of competence in screening practice.

· To promote the principles of a ‘family – friendly’ service by ensuring that parents and carers are given clear and accurate information regarding the hearing screening programme at all times.

· To establish and maintain effective methods of communication to ensure that screening outcomes are delivered correctly to the parents, primary care teams, other Newborn Hearing Screening Teams where appropriate and Audiology Services where follow-up is indicated.

· To develop and oversee a local training programme for screeners that meets national recommendations.

· To ensure learners are appropriately supervised and assessed and have an effective learning experience.

· To monitor compliance with Trust Mandatory training for NHSP Staff across the Trust’s Hospitals site, providing the Programme Manager with regular reports on non-compliance and relevant action plans.

· To provide support and guidance for NHSP Staff across the Trust’s Hospitals sites with Trust mandatory training, alerting staff to new communication and/or requirements including addressing and resolving matters of non-compliance and / or inaccuracy of records.

The Hand Therapy Team at the Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opening for either an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with previous experience in Hand Therapy to join our team.

The role includes a varied patient caseload of trauma and acquired conditions of the hand and wrist, from both Orthopaedic and Plastic Hand Surgeons. Hand therapy is carried out in closed trauma fracture clinics, on the ward, and in out-patient settings for post-operative and non-operative patients. The team comprises 16 qualified therapists and a therapy assistant. There is regular MDT teaching and support for learning through in-service training and supervision.

Ophthalmic Nurse Practitioner, Band 7

Fixed-Term/Secondment: 12 months

We are looking for an Ophthalmic Nurse Practitioner who has experience in intravitreal injections, POA/Biometry and pre/postoperative review of patients who have undergone cataract surgery.

This position will clinically support the ophthalmology department and will be responsible for transforming the way in which we provide ophthalmology services at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital through application of Royal College and national recommendations such as Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) to deliver a sustainable and modern ophthalmology department.

Candidates who do not have experience in injections are welcomed to apply as well, but they will be remunerated at a Band 6 level. We will provide training in injections and upon successful completion/formal assessment the post holder will be uplifted to Band 7.

Assistant Service Manager, Band 6

Secondment Cover: 12 months

An opportunity has arisen to join the Planned Care Surgery Operational team as an Assistant Service Manager in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital supporting Ophthalmology, Pain and Plastic Surgery services.

The Assistant Service Manager will work closely with nursing, administrative and clinical teams to deliver excellent performance and achieve agreed productivity targets. You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality and efficient patient services in defined clinical areas and will work on and support the direct management of a range of agreed projects and service improvement initiatives.

This is a fast paced and busy role and you should ideally have some operational experience at a junior level, delivering improvements to systems, processes and performance, working across a wide range of staff to achieve good outcomes for patients. You will have excellent communication skills - both oral and verbal - and will be able to work well under pressure, balancing competing demands and meeting tight deadlines.

Operational Management
• Provide hands-on operational management to designated areas of the Division, ensuring the delivery of services in line with expected service standards.
• Be accountable through the General Manager, Deputy General Manager and Service Manager for the monitoring and delivery of key quality, productivity and performance targets.

• Support the service manager with the investigation and co-ordination of complaints that are predominantly administrative/ medical related within the directorate working closely with medical staff and with the Patient Advisors. Ensure corrective action is taken in response to patient feedback
• Be responsible for effective communication systems within areas of management responsibility including regular team and departmental briefing.
• Facilitate partnership and integration between services across multiple sites e.g. in relation to aligning systems and processes, sharing best practice, improving data etc.
• Ensure effective clinic utilisation and capacity planning, identifying where there are inefficiencies or a lack of capacity and taking steps to address where productivity and access fall below targets
• Play a key role in ensuring effective systems of capturing high quality data and that all datasets are submitted to a high level of accuracy in line with required timescales.
• Identify service improvement or modernisation initiatives that will enhance the patient experience, improve the quality of care provided or enable improvements in performance; work with relevant staff and stakeholders in order to make recommendations in relation to the size and scope of the project.

• Ensure close working relationships are maintained with the clinical professionals on all matter relating to patient care within the service

Financial Management
• Play an active role in identifying areas within the service where expenditure can be reduced and/or income generated (CIP)
• Be involved under the Service Manager’s/ DGMs/GM instruction in the business planning process, producing capital and revenue business cases and proposals for service development.
• Undertake detailed information analysis of specific projects/reports requiring high levels of analysis.
• Contribute to the management of performance information, taking a lead for specific projects

Accountable to the General Manager, and working in partnership with Service Directors and Matrons, the Deputy General Manager (DGM) will support in the operational delivery of Emergency and Acute services, focussing on delivery of the A&E waiting time standards, financial performance, governance, change and business development across the directorate. The inpatient Heart Failure team is a cross-site, integrated multidisciplinary team and we aim to work collaboratively to deliver care that meets best practice in heart failure across both sites of the Trust. Scoping and planning
• You play a lead role in the development of project plans, ensuring that the work we do is directly related to solving / resolving the problem we are trying to address, within the available timeframe and resource envelop.
• You proactively look within the organisation for examples of similar projects we have undertaken, and involve colleagues (and external specialists) who have expertise in this area of work; and you consider the range of skills in the organisation to make proposals about the team resources required to undertake the work successfully.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, self-motivated nurse / midwife to join our Urogynaecology Outpatient Nursing Team in Gynaecology at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust.

We are looking to recruit a Band 7 nurse / midwife with experience and qualifications in this field or someone who is willing to work towards this at Band 6 level as part of an 18 month to 2 year training post. Gynaecology knowledge and experience is essential to this role.

The successful candidate will work alongside a consultant lead in urogynaecology and a dedicated team of gynaecology nurses and support workers. The team provide a specialist service for women with pelvic floor and bladder dysfunction.

The post holder will be able to co-ordinate and deliver an expert nurse led service including the management of prolapse, vaginal pessary, bladder retraining, catheter care, TWOC, PTNS, bladder instillation's, and provide medication reviews.

They will be able to work autonomously, have excellent decision making skills, ensuring the delivery of high quality care.

The candidate will be an experienced gynaecology nurse with excellent clinical skills, in addition have a proven track record in teaching and education as well as service improvement and leadership.

The post holder will be required to work cross sites at West Middlesex University Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The post holder will work independently and unsupervised as an expert urogynaecology Specialist Nurse within the urogynaecology cross-site service. They will demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgment, discretion and clinical decision making in accordance with evidence-based practice and the British Society of Urogynaecology (BSUG)



The post holder will be an experienced urogynaecolgy specialist nurse, with expert knowledge and skills in the field of urogynaecolgy.



They should be able to co-ordinate and deliver an expert nurse led service including being able to assess new patients referred with disrupted urinary function and pelvic organ prolapse, undertaking vaginal examination, bladder scanning and urodynamic studies; manage vaginal pessaries, bladder retaining, catheter care, TWOC, PTNS, bladder instillations,ISC teaching and medication reviews and be able to advise on appropriate treatment plans.



The post holder will work in partnership with the Urogynaecology Lead Consultant on both Trust sites and the Clinical Director for Gynaecology to deliver the clinical objectives of the service.



The role includes supporting specialist nurses in training, providing clinical teaching and education to other colleagues (medical/nursing) to enhance clinical practice and improve patient care.

· Use specialist knowledge to take Informed Consent from the patient by informing the patient and explaining the reason for the procedure, benefits, risks, complications and effects of the intended procedure, and any alternative treatments.



· Perform a comprehensive problem focused health history and physical examination, and be able to analyse and interpret history, presenting symptoms, physical findings and diagnostic information to develop differential diagnosis within the specialist area.



· Ensure patients are investigated appropriately, interpret results and communicate results to patient, carer and GP/referrer.
