Job Description

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals to join our Traffic and Transportation team. Playing a vitally important role in keeping our towns and villages and people moving, the main duties include traffic and transportation engineering, road safety, strategy development, funding bids and sustainable transport. You should have knowledge and experience of legislation and technical aspects in this area of work (eg TSRGD, traffic signs manual and relevant Acts).

You will play a vital role in transportation planning and contributing to policy making and strategy development. Successful candidates will also have supervisory responsibility. Experience in the development and delivery of traffic and transportation related projects, both major and minor, would be advantageous, including the procurement and financial monitoring required. You should be able to work under pressure to specific deadlines and directions, whilst working as part of a wider specialist team. Successful candidates must have a HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent in a relevant subject, and ideally you should be an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or working towards this.

You must hold a current driver’s licence as you will be expected to travel throughout the Council area. A commitment to customer focus, service delivery and responsiveness will be vital as will the ability to commit to our constant efforts to refine, innovate and improve delivery. Key Responsibilities – Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

• Operate to the planned preventative maintenance within the department, ensuring that all machinery and ancillary services are covered, report back any failing in this plan to the Engineering Manager or Section manager.
• Identify and troubleshoot process, material, or equipment problems to minimize down time and recommend solutions to the Engineering Manager or Section Manager.
• Develop, assemble, procure or modify existing and new tooling, fixtures, and equipment to ensure efficient production methods.
• Assist with hands on training of setter operators and process operators on new products, equipment and process revisions.
• Schedule, complete, and document routine maintenance on applicable manufacturing and test equipment.
• Read schematics, assembly drawings, data sheets, and process sheets to perform testing, build fixtures, checkout and trouble-shoot equipment.
• Assist in failure analysis, troubleshooting, rework/repair of non-conforming manufactured product to determine root cause.
• Perform tests, gather data, and write results/reports with assistance from Engineering Manager, utilizing various types of electro-mechanical equipment.

Qualifications & Experience – Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

• HNC/Apprentice trained
• 50/50 Mechanical & Electrical Ideally having previous worked with wrapping machines/products
• Competent in Plc programming (basic understanding level accepted)
• Proven track record in Machining/Turning – bearings, shafts, pumps, gearboxes – Pneumatics, Electrical fault finding and 3 phase equipment experience.

Salary– Up to £40,000 dependent upon experience (Plus on call, call out fees).

Hours– Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm (With 1 week in 4 on call and occasional weekend working).

Main duties

• Working with and supporting the team.

• To be able to accurately diagnose software and hardware faults and to be able to resolve a large proportion of client problems via remote networking and client site visits.

• To provide a high standard of customer care to clients, ensuring their problems are dealt with efficiently, maintaining contact and keeping clients informed of progress.

• To provide 1st and 2nd line helpdesk support to customers for hardware, software, audio-visual, and telephone equipment.

• In addition, they may be called upon to do other duties as demand occurs.

• To work towards and complete Microsoft Certifications for IT Professionals

• To audit new customers IT and provide reports back to customers, including meeting with customers to discuss the audit and findings / recommendations.

• To be aware of and abide by health and safety procedures and associated polices.

• To proactively implement policies and procedures.

• To maintain satisfactory standards of safety and security in relation to customers.
