About the Role • Install, support and maintain our corporate infrastructure including network equipment (such as Edge Switches, Wi-Fi APs), corporate servers, network printers and associated software and scripts for both on-premises and cloud-based installations. • Install and support PCs, desktop platforms and associated desktop software using Microsoft Configuration Manager and Intune. • Install, configure, support, and maintain our telephony services and systems, as well as mobile phones using MAM and MDM via Intune. • Develop and maintain documentation for our ICT Knowledge Database, including technical instructions and user guides. • Collaborate with the Infrastructure and Security Team Leader and colleagues to ensure a well-designed and fit for purpose business continuity and disaster recovery plan that meets the needs of the wider organisation.

The Opportunity…

We are currently looking to recruit a Reactor Physics (Criticality) Engineer to join our Fuel and Core Branch (F&CB) as part of the Nuclear Services Business.

We’re after an individual with a scientific or mathematical background who is motivated and eager to learn. The role will be primarily focussed on developing capability in Criticality Safety such that the individual can study, analyse and provide authoritative advice concerning nuclear aspects of fissile material handling and storage at UK nuclear power stations. This is a great opportunity to develop knowledge of nuclear fuel design and fuel route operation in an operationally supporting project environment. There are also many opportunities to diversify into other technical areas, in particular Reactor Physics, which involves analysing reactor neutronic and thermal hydraulic behaviour to support activities to comply with the requirements of the Nuclear Site Licences.

As a member of the Reactor Physics and Criticality Group, you will report to the Reactor Physics and Criticality Group Leader and work closely with other Nuclear Services groups, EDF Licensee Groups and Power Stations.

What you’ll be doing?

As a Criticality Safety Engineer, you will primarily focus on supporting the Criticality Safety Case in the Nuclear Fuel Routes of all EDF reactors. Specifically, following relevant training, you will work as part of a team to:


- Perform Monte Carlo based calculations of the neutron transport equation using geometric models of the nuclear fuel under varying conditions and fault scenarios;
- Assess proposed fuel route operations to identify potential hazards and faults which may pose a criticality risk;
- Analyse faults to determine risk and identify appropriate safety measures to reduce the risk in line with the ALARP principle;
- Implement criticality safety cases to the required quality and process to become part of the station safety case;
- Review other proposed safety cases to examine the impact on criticality safety and provide advice as necessary;
- Provide advice to station in response to events on-site and evolving situations;
- Liaise with station staff and other technical areas to discuss training, operational experience, work requirements;
- Support the maintenance of the required codes (verification & validation, version control etc.) and manage tasks in a UNIX environment;
- Be able to clearly specify work for others, collaborate with supply chain partners and act as an Intelligent Customer for externally-produced work.
- Support the Group Leader in the management of strategy, risk, work planning, resource and budgets where appropriate.

We are looking for a Mechanical Components Engineer to join our Mechanical Components Branch as part of our Nuclear Services Business, supporting the delivery of EDFs projects such as Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC).

In your role, you will be maintaining technical oversight of the design and supply chain, to ensure the safety case requirements are captured and fulfilled during the design, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning of the plant.

The role sits within the Mechanical Equipment team, which is responsible for technical oversight and delivery of ~150 equipment contracts placed across the whole plant.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop in depth knowledge on EPR design and operation, to work in a fast-paced project environment.

What you’ll be doing…

You will work on Radiological Consequences tasks and projects for multiple nuclear site licensees (generation, decommissioning, and new build) within Nuclear Services. Tasks and responsibilities include the following:


- Knowledge and interpretation of regulatory requirements and international standards.
- Understanding and developing analysis methodologies to predict Radiological Consequences, as part of a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Operation of codes in line with analysis methodologies to execute assessments.
- Application of knowledge of plant, design, operator and regulatory standards and international standards to the analysis of information and data, to support safety cases.
- Applying engineering judgement in defining and simplifying problems.
- Providing and / or maintaining the infrastructure to perform assessments.
- Producing and reviewing well-structured and clear technical reports.



Who you are…

We are looking for someone with a degree (or equivalent qualification or experience) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Nuclear Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or in another appropriate scientific or numerate discipline. Sizewell C (SZC) has a number of opportunities for skilled Safety Case practitioners in the Safety Case Branch of our Design Authority (DA). We are currently producing the SZC Pre-Construction Safety Report (PCSR) which support the release of the First Nuclear Safety Concrete milestone in the construction sequence.

At this time, SZC DA require a lead verifier for the PCSR who will ensure the safety report as a whole is fully verified, drawing on the knowledge of multiple verifiers appointed to review sections/sub-sections. This individual will be a skilled safety case practitioner who has already worked in UK safety cases and has experience of meeting the expectations of our regulator, ONR.

The Role
The Design Authority (DA), as part of the licensee organisation, is responsible for developing the nuclear safety case and maintaining its integrity throughout the full lifecycle of the nuclear power plant.

Whilst PCSR verification is anticipated to be your first priority, as an experienced Safety Case Engineer working in SZC Design Authority, you will play an important role in many areas of Licence Condition 14 compliance. You will provide technical leadership in resolving challenging issues to support the construction, commissioning, and eventual safe operation of the Nuclear Power Plant. You will have opportunities to gain experience and work in a variety of different aspects of the safety case from developing the main Safety Report through to managing the resolution and closing out EPR GDA (Generic Design Assessment) Assessment for the SZC project. In your role you will be supported by and need to engage with a variety of disciplines within the wider organisation (Nuclear Analysis, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Operations), while also working with OEM designers/suppliers and internal/external regulators.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Graphite Team, who are responsible for managing some of the biggest technical challenges across the AGR fleet.

The opportunity

You will form part of the Graphite Technology Group, whose remit is to manage the development and deployment of numerical modelling methods, which are designed to forecast the levels of radiolytic oxidation and degradation of the material properties of graphite core components. Current methods utilise either physically based models involving assessments of the chemistry and physics of the reactor system, or empirical methods based upon statistical analysis, with ongoing active development of hybrid approaches.

What you’ll be doing

The scope of the role will involve:


- Development of modelling approaches to predict the weightloss of graphite core components.
- Developing strategies to assess uncertainties in weightloss forecasts, through diverse modelling and inspection analysis.
- Establishing or extending limits on weight losses associated with various nuclear safety related issues.
- The technical management and scope setting of the Graphite Research and Development programme, working with university staff and EDF R&D:


- Net Zero Development (AMR and SMR)
- AGR development

The role includes undertaking technical analysis, with its associated reporting, as well as specifying and monitoring projects carried out by external partners.
The Graphite Technology Group also undertakes stress analysis, whole core modelling, core monitoring and the analysis of inspection data. There may be opportunities to develop experience in these wider areas.

Who you are

My client is a long established, Leading, Regional Civil Engineering and Earthworks Contractor.

Due to planned growth and an influx of work in their Southern Region, they are looking to appoint, on a permanent basis, a Site Engineer / Senior Engineer to work initially on a large earthworks and civils project located in the Gloucester area.

This is an initial 6-month contract position, although there is the potential long-term work with the company who have this 3+ year project and many others in the Southwestern Region.

The Site Engineer will be responsible for delivering the project of works on time, understanding the project set-up, the roles played by different members of the team and details of the site and construction.

My client is looking for someone that is adept with machine control and GPS. Those with an in-depth knowledge of Trimble would be preferred, although this is not essential.

My client is prepared to consider individuals who have their own kit or those would need this hiring for them. The rate would be reflected accordingly.

Duties:

- Allocate tasks to Assistant and Junior Engineers liaising with the Site Manager, Section Manager, General Foreman to manage tasks to completion
- Ensure the Inspection and Test Plans, and Quality Check Sheets are completed at the same time as the work to ensure that it is delivered to specification
- Identify the need for Temporary Works and liaise with the Temporary Works Coordinator
- Be responsible for setting out for line and level on the site, obtaining setting out details from the Construction drawings or CAD model or other digital platforms
- Supervise the on-site inspection process and ensure all inspections are completed on time and in digital format.

You will provide technical leadership in resolving challenging issues to support the construction, commissioning and the safe operation of the Nuclear Power Plant. You will have opportunities to gain experience and work in a variety of different aspects of the safety case from developing the main Safety Report through to safety justifications to support modifications. In your role you will be supported by and need to engage with a variety of disciplines within the wider organisation, while also working with OEM designers/suppliers and internal/external regulators.
Alternatively, if you join our Nuclear Operations business safety case engineers are responsible for maintenance of the safety cases supporting normal operations and fault scenarios during the generation and defueling phases of operation. You will provide technical leadership to define and deliver safety case requirements to ensure compliance within a regulated environment. You will have opportunities to develop skills across a wide range of technical and plant engineering disciplines, through completion of planned work and providing support to address emergent challenges.

Who you are…
Key attributes you should be able to demonstrate:

- A motivated, self-starting, dynamic individual who is able to work with multiple disciplines and organisational levels to drive the development and maintenance of the safety case;
- Someone who is able to understand the bigger picture, have the ability distil a range of source data and analysis to define, scope and strategically plan the delivery of the safety case;
- The ability to understand a broad range of technical analysis, identify and lead pragmatic solutions as well as challenge current strategies and integrate technical knowledge into clear, concise and coherent information;
- Someone who thrives in working in high profile, dynamic, time critical projects with the ability to identify and focus on resolving key issues and able to hold a technical position in a challenging environment;
- Someone with excellent organisation skills, who can work autonomously and works well in teams.There are minimum of a HNC or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a similar technical discipline is advantageous and may be mandatory for certain roles
In both the reactor and fuel route safety case areas we are keen for people with experience and/or a desire to develop in disciplines such as hazards (internal/external), structural integrity, mechanical and general plant.
