Your new role
We are looking for Civil Engineering Technician (x2) to join the Highways & Coastal - Project Delivery team on a full-time and permanent basis. This contract is offered on a hybrid basis which is a combination of attending the office, working from home and regular site visits (as and when required). This post is within the Project Delivery Team (Highways & Coastal) responsible for Highway Design, Traffic Management/Regulations, Road Safety, Structures, Flood Risk and Coastal Protection.

As a civil engineering technician, you will provide a full range of technical support functions that are required for the across teams within Infrastructure & Environment directorate. You will be responsible for supporting the initiation, planning and implementation of highway, traffic, flood risk, coastal protection and road safety projects to our agreed high standards and within budget. You will be required to use AutoCAD and / or equivalent software for the production of drawings as required.

This role will report to Senior Engineers and will be required to support the design, delivery and monitoring of highway and coastal projects delivered in accordance with the Council's strategies and policies, to time and budget.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, the ability to use a variety of IT packages to undertake surveys, designs and other technical assessments including AutoCAD, Civils 3D/MX or similar and InfoDrainage is essential. Previous experience of assisting assistant engineers, engineers and senior engineers with the management of resources such as time, financial, contract and project management is essential. Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective internal and external working relationships is crucial for this role. It is essential that you can provide timely and accurate advice to senior leaders/members/local councillors and the public on all highway, flooding and coastal related matters.

Your application will not be considered if you do not have one of the following:

• ONC/BTEC+ in civil engineering / highways / or related discipline.
• Student or Graduate Engineer Membership of (or working towards) a professional body and 2+ years' experience.

Site Engineer role

Reporting to the Technical Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of Earthwork packages on multiple sites in the Greater Manchester region.

• To be fully conversant with all contract drawings and specifications and their application to the works under construction

Condition Monitoring Engineer - About the role:

An exciting position has become available for a full-time Condition Monitoring Engineer covering primarily the Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas. You will need to be highly organised, self-motivated and well presented with the ability to communicate at all levels.

The role involves visiting client's premises where you will be expected to work safely and in accordance with workplace rules and regulations. This can often involve lone working on client's manned sites.

The role does require extensive UK wide travel including overnight stays. Home working and occasional weekend work will be required.

Role Requirements

* Condition Monitoring Qualified.
* A recognised mechanical qualification.
* A good understanding of plant and machinery.
* The ability to use basic mechanical tools.
* Be capable of identifying electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, fans, compressors, etc.
* A good knowledge of mathematics & their relationship with engineering.
* Be capable of undertaking wiring tasks in simple control panels that incorporate basic system controllers and microcontrollers.
* An understanding of sensing and measuring devices for vibration, temperature, sound, voltage, current, pressure and flow.
* Fully computer literate including the use of Microsoft Office, MS Outlook, E-mail browsers Internet 'Web' browsers and ideally some mechanical and electrical software applications applicable to the engineer's position.
* You will be an enthusiastic, flexible engineer who can provide a professional service to “blue chip” clients throughout the UK.

Role Responsibilities

* Condition based monitoring services (incorporating vibration analysis, ultrasound, thermal imaging, oil sampling & motor testing).
* Installation and servicing of fixed continuous monitoring systems & automated lubrication systems.
* Lubrication services on all rotating components.

I am working with a facilities management company who are looking to add a Mobile Gas Engineer to their team. The company specialise in PPM and reactive maintenance within commercial buildings. This role is a field based position and will be covering the Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee and Perth areas.

About the role of Mobile Gas Engineer:

My client work mainly on commercial buildings such as high street retailers and banks. You will be tasked with attending around 4 sites a day to carry out repairs or maintenance within the buildings which will include PPM and reactive work.

Responsibilities for Mobile Gas Engineer:

• Carry out maintenance and repair, including fabric & basic electrical tasks of buildings as required under contract
• Ensure all PPM and reactive tasks are completed to the required legislative standards
• Ensure all required paperwork work is completed and submitted within timescales
• Provide information and give quotes to clients
• Use hand-held technology effectively
• Monitor quality of work from sub-contractors
• Ensure all required certification is completed correctly and any remedial work is identified

Requirements of a Mobile Gas Engineer:

• The ideal candidate will have an NVQ Level 2 (ideally 3) or equivalent
• Have experience as a mobile gas engineer or experience as a domestic gas engineer and be willing to be up-skilled.
• Experience providing maintenance, testing & fault finding on a variety of equipment including boiler plant, ventilation, pumps, generators, switchgear, cables, batteries, small power and lightning
• Driving license with no more than 6 penalty points
• Willing to work on a call out rota providing out of hours full cover to clients
• Knowledge of health and safety and safe working practises

• Salary between £30,744 and £46,791 depending on experience

Your new company

You will be working for a large organisation operating across the Aberdeen area providing property maintenance solutions to a range of public buildings. This role is a long-term temporary position for a period of at least 6 months. In your role as a Property Inspector you will provide technical expertise to the wider contract management team.

Your new role

In your new role you will spend a mixture of time in the office and visiting properties across the Aberdeen area. You will inspect plant such as commercial heating and ventilation systems. When carrying out site inspections, you will update and maintain statutory records, allocate work to mechanical contractors and assist in managing any maintenance required. This role will involve working as part of a team, being able to assess repair requirements in line with regulatory requirements and maintaining the building at a high functioning level fit for the purposes of the occupants.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successfully appointed to this role you must have experience and qualifications relating to commercial boiler installation and maintenance. Qualifications at SVQ / NVQ Level 3 are essential. It is also essential that you hold a current driving licence as you will be travelling regularly as part of this role. You must have a strong awareness of health & safety procedures and contribute to a culture of working safely. In addition, you will be required to keep accurate records using various IT packages such as word, excel and email. An excellent communicator, you will work as part of a wider team and communicate your findings and recommendations clearly.

What you'll get in return

This role is an excellent opportunity to take a step into a management or supervisor role, working off the tools you will be responsible for inspecting boiler and ventilation systems and recommending repairs required. You will be paid a competitive rate of pay, paid mileage for all business travel and work flexible hours over Monday to Friday with no call-outs required. This role also offers you a long-term contract right though until at least April 2025. Paid weekly via Hays, you will also receive holiday pay in addition to your hourly rate to be used throughout the year.
