Uses knowledge of NAS components, interdependencies, and potential for operational improvements,
executes key program/project activities such as requirements development and management, systems engineering, and investment analysis on one or more programs.

Applies experience with program and/or project management principles and processes, such as lifecycle and logistics management, financial planning, and risk management to facilitate the integration of automation, contractual, and procurement elements into major NAS programs. Applies project and program management principles to lead formulation of strategies, financial, business and planning deliverables and activities across the enterprise of system and capability solutions. Monitors and facilitates the establishment of programs and changes to program costs, schedules and scope through skill in Acquisition Management System principles.

Applies knowledge of NAS programs and Enterprise Architecture to analyze data and to identify and mitigate and support Risks, Issues and Opportunities (RIOs) implementation and integration across the enterprise and in leading multiple programs. Researches, develops and identifies program dependencies and their associated RIOs using knowledge Air Traffic Management systems, including automation, surveillance; air/ground communications, weather and enterprise systems. Uses engineering expertise related to operational domains
and of the NAS to facilitate alignment of program dependencies and their associated RIOs and to provide expertise and advice to multiple programs on integration (synthesis) of capabilities into systems and the NAS.

Monitors the performance of contracts and provides technical advice to the contracting officer, as applicable. Leads enterprise level working groups solving technical issues and capitalizing on opportunities and engages senior leadership making recommendations that drive more effective and efficient organizational alignment, which may affect staffing of bargaining unit positions. Conducts engineering analyses and studies to define and interpret NAS level requirements and to conduct integration planning using the FAA NAS Enterprise Architecture. Leads the establishment and implementation of program Requirements Management Plans. Provides support to the goals of improving cross-organizational project implementation and communication.

Often develops new policies, procedures, and approaches taking into consideration FAA policies, government-wide rules and regulations, and industry standards. • You will manage/lead the coordination and collaboration with PEO-SSBN/SSN, Electric Boat, Huntington Ingalls Industries, Sub Warfare Federated Tactical Systems and various Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems Subsystem Program Area Resource Managers.
• You will evaluate all aspects of NPES readiness to support the construction schedule, verification that New Construction functional requirements are met, assist in platform certification and evaluate cost/schedule risk to the programs.

As a General Engineer, you will:

• Lead compliance test programs, conduct investigations, and serve as Enforcement’s representative on teams that conduct research and/or rulemaking to amend existing standards and promulgate new FMVSS and regulations.
• Provide technical and administrative support to facilitate the contracting and execution of complex engineering programs at contract test laboratories, including writing and maintaining detailed test procedures, as well as assuring milestones and deliverables are timely. 
• Ensure test programs are conducted in a manner which supports compliance investigations and produce test results and reports that are accurate and in the proper format.
• Recommend investigation plans that are tailored to test failures or other indications of noncompliance, and conduct investigations utilizing relevant engineering analyses as well as computer tools, film analysis, statistical methods, and other analytical tools deemed useful for the particular investigation.
• Make presentations to upper management that include all of the assembled data and recommendations about how to proceed.

As a General Engineer/Physical Scientist (Deputy Assistant Deputy Administrator of the Office of Experimental Sciences) you will:

• Assist in directing NA-113 staff, providing both technical and administrative direction. Assist with the planning and management of office activities and provides overall direction to the selection, utilization, and development of assigned personnel and the resolution of work-related issues.
• Serve as the Deputy Assistant Deputy Administrator responsible for applying a high level of technical expertise to assist with identifying, overseeing, and resolving complex engineering, scientific and technological issues associated with the NNSA's science-based Stockpile Stewardship Programs.

This position is located in the Division of Hydropower Administration and Compliance in the Office of Energy Projects.

As an Environmental Engineer, some of your typical work assignments may include:

• Performing environmental compliance activities related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of FERC jurisdictional hydropower facilities including determining the adequacy of the data supplied, analyzing and assessing the potential effects on engineering and environmental resources, and determining compliance with the Commission's rules, policies, and other laws such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Clean Water Act.
• Preparing compliance, NEPA, and other environmental related documents focusing on compliance activities related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of hydropower facilities.
• Communicating with the hydropower industry, federal and state agency representatives, and other affected stakeholders.
