The Opportunity:
The nation’s only College of Business, Security, and Intelligence at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in Prescott, Arizona is seeking applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Cyber Intelligence and Security (CIS) Department, starting in Fall 2024. The department is interested in candidates who can support our undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the areas of embedded and industrial control systems; wireless and mobile security; software and cloud computing security; and machine learning and AI.
Successful candidates will contribute to teaching courses in these areas, play a role in expanding our research capabilities in the cyber lab facilities, and mentor student groups and projects. As a faculty member, you will engage in scholarship of learning and discovery, presenting research in your field of expertise. We are particularly interested in individuals who can develop and teach hands-on focused courses across all levels of undergraduate and graduate education.
Our CIS department makes ERAU-Prescott a National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) designated National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education. The department has an ABET-accredited cybersecurity program, one of the few in the world, and is an invited member of the prestigious RSA Security Scholar Program and the U.S. Cyber Command Academic Engagement Network. Our students have landed coveted scholarships from the Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Scholarship Program. We are, together with Daytona Beach campus, the one National Science Foundation (NSF) CyberCorps Scholarship for Service (SFS) institution for aviation and aerospace cybersecurity. The CIS department comprises six full-time faculty members, serving a diverse student body of over 160 individuals, and has produced more than 200 graduates over the last decade. The 10-year-old department has a strong focus on hands-on educational methods and emphasizes practical skills students will need after graduation. Faculty in the department work with our students on projects related to their areas of expertise partnering with government, industry, and other higher educational institutions. Department faculty and students have access to facilities and equipment related to cyber work ranging from state-of-the-art computers and servers to support hands-on teaching in the cyber labs to a capable deep learning infrastructure to support AI education and research. Qualifications
Qualifications
- Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in cyber security, computer science, engineering, or a related field and relevant experience is desired, but candidates with significant industry experience and a master’s degree are strongly encouraged to apply.
- The ideal candidate should have the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in topics such as data science (machine learning and AI), wireless and mobile security, security of cloud computing and virtualization technologies, and embedded systems security.
- Competence in mentoring or leading a design team on a multidisciplinary cyber project is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to present and publish research and scholarly activity.
- Knowledge of embedded systems, cloud computing, and machine learning is favorable.
