Summary

We are looking for a Project Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining excellence in developing, executing and controlling assigned projects to achieve plant goals. Through expert application of engineering techniques and principles, the incumbent will conduct analyses and investigations pertaining to construction of new facilities and enhancements for existing facilities to optimize productive capability of the plant. We encourage the Project Engineer to make sound recommendations, considering such factors as cost, maintainability, facility of production and availability of materials and equipment with emphasis on safety and optimum performance. Summary

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who will provide project engineering services to the organization by coordinating development between Production, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance. This position may require working overtime - to include weekends and/or nights.

Other expectations include the ability to perform all the other duties and tasks of the other employees within the department when required or needed. The Engineering Manager must also be knowledgeable and capable of following and enforcing all department and Plant rules, policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Support and participate in plant problem solving in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation as requested by Production/Maintenance. Review new equipment designs and recommend modifications to minimize cost, conform to production capabilities and enhance safety. 

• Maintain thorough engineering standards for project design and execution, feasibility analysis, equipment standards, safety, construction, execution, and site implementation

• Proactively evaluate value-added benefits of short-term and long-term continuous improvement opportunities through capital project execution. Coordinate development, submission, and approval of annual capital plan. Establish criteria for capital project scope and scheduling standards. Support new product development and manufacturing with equipment/material development, installation and start-up.

• Provide technical engineering support for the facility on a continual basis. Evaluate and design new equipment systems, and recommend modifications for continuous improvement in an effort to minimize cost, optimize maintenance and production capabilities, and enhanced safety.

• Manage the efforts of the Project Engineers to help achieve successful project completion and plant production goals. Ensure a high level of competence and performance within the department. • Provide support for corporate level initiatives throughout the life cycle of the project activities.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who will provide project engineering services to the organization by coordinating development between Production, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance. This position may require working overtime - to include weekends. Other expectations include the ability to perform all the other duties and tasks of the other employees within the department when required or needed. The Engineering Manager must also be knowledgeable and capable of following and enforcing all department and Plant rules, policies and procedures. The Engineering Manager is responsible for providing project engineering services to the organization by coordinating development between Production, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Support and participate in plant problem solving in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation as requested by Production/Maintenance. Review new equipment designs and recommend modifications to minimize cost, conform to production capabilities and enhance safety. 

• Maintain thorough engineering standards for project design and execution, feasibility analysis, equipment standards, safety, construction, execution, and site implementation

• Proactively evaluate value-added benefits of short-term and long-term continuous improvement opportunities through capital project execution. Coordinate development, submission, and approval of annual capital plan. Establish criteria for capital project scope and scheduling standards. Support new product development and manufacturing with equipment/material development, installation and start-up.

• Provide technical engineering support for multiple critical processes on a continual basis. Evaluate and design new equipment systems, and recommend modifications for continuous improvement in an effort to minimize cost, optimize maintenance and production capabilities, and enhanced safety.

• Manage the efforts of the Project Engineers to help achieve successful project completion and plant production goals. Ensure a high level of competence and performance within the department. Ensure the existence of consistent and comprehensive job standards, procedures and quality requirements for the engineering and maintenance groups. Ensure effective project scheduling and allocation of resources to most efficiently utilize limited production outage periods across multiple continuous manufacturing operations.

• Provide support for corporate level initiatives throughout the life cycle of the project activities.

• Monitor, define applicability, and implement necessary codes, standards, and regulatory requirements throughout facility. Ensure that complete plant drawings exist and are kept up-to-date. Ensure new equipment is fully documented.

Summary

The Asphalt Process Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and reliability of the stillyard processes to meet asphalt supply demands. He/she will develop, implement and execute process improvement projects with the goal of increasing efficiency, reliability and profitability while reducing process variation. When applicable, the Asphalt Process Engineer will execute approved capital improvements by coordinating with the Asphalt Operations Manager, Plant Engineering Manager and department managers on timelines, budget and resources needed. The Asphalt Process Engineer will use a hierarchy of values (Safety, Quality, Service and Cost) in prioritizing his/her activities, while supporting plant goals and improvement plans.

• Support all plant product qualifications, process capability studies, raw materials trials /qualifications and product development /improvement projects.

• Support all R&D and Plant trial requests (PTR’s). Ensure that trials are accurately conducted employing the latest PTR protocol (w/potential problem analysis) and reported per required standards, timelines and accounting cycles.

• Identify production or process problems and prepare /implement solutions as needed, using standard PI tools such as QualPro, MVT/DOE and Kepner-Tregoe problem-solving techniques.

• Performs PPA /FMEA on all major process and raw material changes, including documentation for the changes on updated P&IDs.

• Manage the application and interpretation of SPC charting and teach all machine operators the benefits of the tool and how to input data.

• Comply with and enforce established quality policies and procedures.

• Conduct compliance audits of raw material asphalt testing, process specifications, plant change notices (PCN’s) and other in-plant processes.

• Coordinate required inspections of tanks, pressure vessels, fired heaters and other critical equipment.

• Participate in plant technical support activities as required to achieve plant goals.

• Lead the integration of Braincube into the stillyard operation to analyze inputs/outputs to optimize processes, reduce abnormalities, and drive down variability.

Team or Function Overview We are looking for a Controls Engineer who will provide leadership and technical expertise in support of the safe and reliable operation of the manufacturing plant. Primary focus will be on electrical projects dealing with controls, data acquisition, power distribution, wiring and other related issues. Responsibilities include the troubleshooting of control, instrument, and electrical problems adversely affecting the manufacturing process. In addition, it is expected that this individual will assist and provide training to maintenance, production or other technicians as needed with technical or troubleshooting related matters. The selected candidate will be skilled in the design, installation, and upkeep of PLC based controls in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties

Manage the design and installation of electrical/electronic equipment including electrical power distribution systems, PLC’s, instrumentation, variable speed AC and DC drives.

● Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles. This includes writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, as they relate to a continuous operation process.

● Partner with the maintenance planner to ensure electrical projects are properly scheduled on PMD’s, and partner with the maintenance engineer to develop a good

electrical/electronic preventative maintenance system.

● Perform design calculations and prepare equipment or material specifications for electrical and electronic PLC based systems.

● Periodically investigate and make an analysis of electrical or electronic based problems associated with the production operations, and take the appropriate action to correct these problems.

● Assist and train maintenance, production or other technicians as needed with technical or troubleshooting related matters.

● Contribute to capital projects initiated by on-site engineering resources or the corporate Controls Team.

● Develop capital project scope of works and create detailed funding requests for assigned projects.

● Direct the work of outside contractors and maintenance staff during project installations.

The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for supporting the integration of continuous improvement in the plant operations at a specific plant or multiple plants. Responsible and accountable for continuous improvement and efficiencies across the plant’s products, systems, operations and processes. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager. The ideal candidate will have a solid lean and/or six sigma background with the ability to coach, train and drive these projects within the plant.

• Lead the implementation of lean principles to drive results (Safety, Quality, Customer Delivery, Cost Management) in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• This is a change agent role meaning it is accountable for achieving results by implementing lean manufacturing methods through influence, facilitation, coaching, and mentoring the production and support teams (without any direct authority).
• Create a culture of continuous improvement by engaging people in improving the business.
• Developing the site team through hands-on improvement projects combined with relevant training in all manufacturing, support, and administrative functions.
• Measure and report progress to the site team and Plant Manager ensuring that improvement projects and training are consistent with GAF Business Systems standards and sustained over time.
