My client is an established, leading National Civil Engineering Contractor.

Due to planned growth, they are presently looking to recruit, on a permanent basis a Contracts Manager with a solid background in Marine Civil Engineering Projects.

They have recently been awarded two projects on the Thames totalling £11m that start next year with additional opportunities on the Thames, Erith (circa £30m), Folkestone, Sussex (various locations), and Faversham.

The ideal candidate would need to be familiar with coastal & maritime projects, piling, sea defence.

They company operate throughout the UK and specialise in the following sectors;

• Infrastructure
• Marine Civil Engineering
• Water & Wastewater
• Energy Sector
• Buildings

The ideal candidate would reside between Crawley, South London and Maidstone in order to be able to navigate the region which broadly covers contracts from London into the counties of Surrey, East & West Sussex and Kent.

Duties:

Management of the Project/Site Manager, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.

Production of monthly reports Liaise with the Senior QS (Quantity Surveyor), Site QS.

Ensure production, review, and monitor the delivery of the project/site health, safety, environment & quality plans.

Develop effective relationships with the clients to maximise the perception & reputation of the business and secure profitable work.

Taking responsibility for a contract at handover from the estimator Plan & monitor resource requirements.

Promote a culture of integration, continuous improvement and use of best practice.

Being the first point of reference for leadership site issues

Civil Engineering experience required:

Strong knowledge of Marine Civil Engineering projects

HSE (Health and Safety Executive) legislation knowledge

Full driving licence

CSCS card Manager

About the role

This large-scale industrial project features a substantial groundworks package with 500,000 Sqft of industrial space, as part of a collaborative team, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of this project.

Requirements

• setting out and surveying for the groundwork and structural elements
• monitoring and reporting on site progress, addressing any issues or discrepancies
• liaising with the project management team, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure smooth delivery and coordination
• implementing and maintain health, safety and environmental standards on site
• supporting the project manager in driving the project to successful completion within time and budget

Requirements for the Site Engineer

• Proven experience as a site engineer, ideally with industrial and deep earthworks
• CSCS card and 1st Aid
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project
• Strong understanding of groundworks including setting out and surveying
• Relevant engineering Qualification

They are presently looking to recruit, on a permanent basis, a Senior Engineer / Sub Agent to work on projects in their Southeastern Region which broadly covers Kent and East Sussex.

The successful candidate will have experience of delivering civil engineering projects.

The nature of the work that this contractor varies but their core sectors include;

• Highways and Bridges
• Section 278 Development Infrastructure
• Environment Agency Works
• Coastal & Marine
• Nuclear
• Water & Wastewater
• Public Realm
• Earthworks & Ground Remediation
• Piling & Foundations

My client would currently consider individuals who are already in a Sub Agent role, or those who are in a more junior role (Site Engineer / Section Engineer) that are looking to transition into this type of position.

Sub Agent duties include assisting the Site Agent with the successful and timely delivery of the projects:

• Advising the engineering team with solutions to technical challenges
• Assist in production and integration of 3-week programmes
• Manage designs from the inhouse and external designers

I am currently working with a main contractor and I have been tasked in finding a Senior Site Engineer for a large scale commercial unit in Kent.

The project is currently at the piling stages and we need someone to assist with the steel frame. This project will last for 10 months and the idea is that the Senior Engineer will move over to another project after the unit.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Setting Out
• Carry out necessary H&S checks and QAs.
• Quality assurance of the site
• Ordering Materials
• Pre Paw checks
