Genetic engineering of plants promises to provide sustainable solutions for food security and climate change mitigation. Current genetic engineering technologies using Agrobacterium, viruses and nanoparticles through syringe injection and biolistic bombardment suffer from limitations including narrow ranges of host species, low transformation efficiencies, strict restrictions on cargo types and sizes, tissue damage and unwanted transgene integration into plant genome. The full-time appointment for this Research Fellow position is for a contract period of 1 to 2 years with the possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities 

• Establish and manage large databases.
• Interpret and analyse data
• Generate reports and presentation of data to relevant stakeholders
• Generate conference presentations and papers for submission to peer reviewed journals
• Collaborate across teams, contributing to multiple research projects at once
• Work closely with research PIs to develop new research ideas and ensure the successful and timely completion of the project(s)

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree
• Candidates interested in Cities and keen to delve into any of the below research modules are strongly encouraged to apply:

• At least three recent and relevant good journal papers on any of the below modules:

• Proficient in data analysis and visualisation tools in quantitative research or any relevant software and tools
• Keen interest in Cities
• Strong background with extensive experience leading research projects would be an advantage
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Resourceful and self-driven
• Adaptable and able to multitask well with clear follow-through
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to the ongoing development of a positive organisational culture

The role is based in Singapore.

1. SUPPORT ASMI’S SUSTAINABILITY & INNOVATION COMMITTEE (SIC)

a. Promote adoption of innovation, decarbonisation and renewables within the marine sector

b. Facilitate transformation of the marine sector towards a low emissions future economy

c. Manage meetings of the SIC

2. ADVANCE MARINE DECARBONISATION

a. Administer the Marine Decarbonisation Champions (MDC) Programme

b. Organise MDC collateral activities

c. Engage external stakeholders including government agencies towards programme objectives

3. ORGANISE THE MARINE AND OFFSHORE (M&O) SYMPOSIUM

a. Coordinate and manage the annual industry thought leadership event

b. Showcase innovative efforts and initiatives in the marine sector

c. Engage ASMI members and other external stakeholders towards symposium objectives

4. GENERAL ADMINISTRATION

a. Support Grant writing for LEAD Programme for the Association (Primarily for the ITM Phase Two on Innovation and Sustainability)

b. Any other initiatives relating to industry development

c. Provide support to other ASMI events and activities as and when required

d. Undertake special projects and ad-hoc duties as and when assigned
