As a FLIGHT ENGINEER (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2185-10, you will perform the following duties:

(1) Serves as instructor/flight examiner providing instruction, evaluation and examination on ground and operational training flights to develop and upgrade skills of aircrew members. Applying knowledge of the full range of aircrew duties and responsibilities, methods of instruction and requirements of the program, performs standardization. currency, instrument, proficiency, tactical, emergency and special tasks evaluation flights. Ensures prescribed programs of instruction for aircrew training is adequately covered in terms of course content, coverage, and scope of material presented. Adapts instruction to proficiency level of individuals being rated. DUTY 1:
Performs Career Broadening assignments; Provides enterprise and subordinate organizations with authoritative guidance on aspects concerning physical security programs for the protection of classified national security information, both Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and collateral information.
Manages the physical security requirements for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIFs). Reviews pre-coordination requirements and recommends approval/disapproval prior to the construction of new SCIFs to include concepts of approval, fixed facility checklists, and formal accreditation. Recommends approval/disapproval prior to the accreditation of Temporary Secure Working Area (TSWA) requests on behalf of the enterprise IAW
DoD and AF regulations. Develops enterprise security policy and risk management assessments within general guidelines provided by the National Security Agency (NSA), DoD, Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and Headquarters United States Air Force (USAF). In situations where guidelines are not available or modifications are required due to unique intelligence operations, incumbent must draw upon a broad base of experience in physical security to independently establish guidelines for the enterprise.

DUTY 2:
Administers the Information Security program. Serves as a security professional for the development, testing, fielding, and protection of sensitive technologies. Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies security guidelines from various sources for local application. Develops and implements security plans and procedures such as standard operating procedures, system security, program test, treaty verification preparation, deployment, and operations security (OPSEC) plans for personnel and facilities that support advanced or special programs and sensitive compartmented information material. Conducts and documents regular self-inspections of special access program facilities and operations. Assesses the security posture and sets goals and courses of action to correct deficiencies. Maintains Top Secret Control Accounts, and strict accountability of other accountable material. DUTY 3:
Administers the Industrial Security Program. Implements and administers the Industrial Security Program through the use of DoD, USAF and MAJCOM directives and procedures. Manages contractor-related security actions for the protection of special access program information and other sensitive information originated or controlled by the DoD and other agencies. Reviews solicitation and contract documents to ensure they include the appropriate security clauses and verbiage. Assists with input of security requirements within Statement of Work, Performance Work Statements or Statement of Objectives. May conduct industrial security inspections of integrated contractor work areas for adherence to classified contractual efforts in accordance with the Visitor Group Security Agreement and the National Industrial Security Program Manual. DUTY 4:
Administers the Personnel Security Program. Establishes local procedures for processing requests for classified information access for military, civilian, and contractor personnel. Initiates and reviews requests for personnel security investigations consistent with directives. Responsible for the classification management program and supports special access program manager in developing classification guidance and making personnel security decisions. Ensures requests for program access are properly screened and verified, and that all necessary forms and documentation have been completed before processing for access. Analyze each request to determine validity and eligibility for access in accordance with policies. Prepares and transmits various reports and requests such as Transfer-of-Access and travel reports. Reviews personnel security decisions of lower-ranking personnel for accuracy. 1) Formulates, oversees and evaluates the overall training programs for the command. Develops short and long term training plans that support the commander's training guidance. Issues instructions and procedures to subordinate organizations for the conduct of activities which meet the commander's training guidance and directives of higher headquarters. Establishes and ensures the conduct of a training evaluation program for subordinate organizations. Conducts and/or coordinates staff assistance visits and command level inspections in the area of training, physical security and readiness. Evaluates the mission essential task lists of subordinate organizations to ensure conformity with higher headquarters, commander's guidance and intent, Army doctrine, and regulatory requirements.

2) Recommends modifications to the command's mission essential task list. Reviews training evaluation and inspection reports to identify systemic problems and trends. Determines and formulates needed revisions or improvements to training activities. Reviews training plans and schedules of subordinate organizations for approval and revision as necessary to ensure compliance with yearly training guidance. Provides technical guidance and assistance to subordinate commanders or other operations and training personnel pertaining to scheduling and conducting training. Directs the scheduling and ensures the execution of special training courses on a variety of subjects (i.e., communications procedures, leadership courses, marksmanship training, etc). 6) Directs scheduling and coordination for the use of training sites and facilities. Reviews the training of all personnel and determines method to accomplish training to include Formal Training Schools, Career Development Course (CDC), Professional Military Education (PME), Air Force Testing and On the Job (OJT) programs. Evaluates training for unit members and tracks progress via automated training records systems and other tools. Coordinates actions with UTMs, supervisors, and higher headquarters training functions at the Wing, and MAJCOM level, as appropriate. Advises the Group Commander on the execution of unit training and advises UTMs, supervisors or managers within units when actions may affect productivity or mission. 2. Responsible for overall management of OJT program for the Group and oversight of subordinate unit's OJT program for 15 to 20 AFSCs. Conducts Staff Assistance Visits (SAV) and identifies root cause of deficiencies and recommends corrective actions for process improvements. Conducts unit in and out-processing of personnel to include Permanent Change of Station, ETS and deploying personnel. Implements and manages training programs, policies and procedures as directed by Host Wing/ Base Education and Training Office or higher headquarters where no Wing/Base Education and Training Office exists. Familiarize Group staff with training concepts, scope, methods and procedures. Coordinates and disseminates training policy and program changes to supervisors and trainers.

3. Manages the development of education and training instructional products. Selects instructional methods that involve the development of lesson plans, task breakdowns, equipment requirements, and instructional aids when teaching the Air Force Training Course (AFTC), automated training record system, and Training Business Area (TBA). • Design or develop electrical systems used to power or control aerospace research test facilities and associated equipment (e.g., thermal vacuum chambers, test stands, laboratories, space environment chambers, test facilities, etc.).
• Perform electrical engineering tasks associated with space simulation testing in a vacuum environment. Establish simulated space-like conditions and evaluate operational safety and environmental requirements.
• Utilize engineering expertise to develop project requirements for electrical systems, which are integrated or associated with aerospace research/test facilities and supporting infrastructure.
• Lead professional, scientific, and/or technical work concerned with engineering, projects, facilities, structures, systems, processes, equipment, devices, materials, and methods.
• Utilize engineering principles, practices, methods, and techniques to design facility modifications or equipment operations to meet changing research or test requirements.
• Participate in the screening and selection of proposed engineering test projects. Establish test conditions and analyze and validate test data.
• Provide technical direction and oversight to contractors for maintenance, repairs, and upgrades for electrical control systems used for aerospace equipment, systems, or facilities.
• Conduct special studies for NASA Programs/Projects and its partners.

• Serves as OPR for the Agency Performance Reviews and other DLA performance review forums,
• Serves as the Chief of Operations Research Division over a team of Data Scientists and Operations Research Analysts working to correct deficiencies or improve the performance of DLA MSC systems, processes, or operations.
• Works with and provides functional guidance to DLA Business Process Analysts and Metrics and Analysis team, DLA Headquarters, DLA Military Service Liaisons and Office of Secretary of Defense Agencies
• Leads special studies, chairs meetings, conduct briefings, and conduct coordination among all levels of management, and with key personnel in OSD, the Military Services, and with other government agencies.
