The successful applicant will be working with international neuromuscular expert physiotherapists and physicians within the Clinical Neuromuscular Physiotherapy Team at GOSH to ensure best clinical care and research practice and will furthermore collaborate closely with the ICH Neuromuscular Research Team and the Clinical Research Facility Team. It will involve completion of clinical trial protocols and specific projects, including development and validation of functional scales and other novel outcome measures as well as analysis of the e.g. SMA natural history data. The post-holder will have opportunity to work within the national SMA network to promote teaching and implementation of standard of care in SMA as well as facilitating robust and meaningful data collection. The post holder will have the opportunity to explore their own project/case-load and to provide cross-cover or support to fellow research physiotherapists. There will be opportunity to both attend and present their work at national and international conferences, for which a support will be provided. The post holder will be an active participant in the Physiotherapy Service at GOSH and will collaborate with the clinical Neuromuscular Physiotherapy Team. The post holder must hold a UK recognised Degree or equivalent qualification in physiotherapy and possess current Health & Care Professions Council registration. It is also essential that the postholder has previous experience in Paediatric Physiotherapy and has some knowledge of paediatric neuromuscular conditions. The postholder must have the ability to work as part of both a physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team and have good listening and communication skills across the age range.
