The Mission Support Assistant performs office support tasks. Duties and responsibilities include:

• Assisting with and conducting annual and semi-annual inventory.
• Maintaining employee property card entries and updates.
• Tracking, sorting, organizing, and distributing property.
• Organizing and maintaining supply rooms.
• Correspondence routing using automation systems.
• Disposing of excess property by completing the required forms.

The incumbent performs tasks with several steps or a sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations. The incumbent follows set procedures in accomplishing repetitive assignments and follows an established sequence of work. Performs any combination of the following:

• May perform as short order grill cook and/or assist the cook in the preparation of lunch or dinner meals.
• Performs a limited variety of tasks, such as grilling foods to order, i.e., hamburgers. pancakes, bacon, eggs, etc.
• Select food items to be served and ensures their freshness.

• Assisting in providing direct advice and guidance to USBP employees at headquarters and throughout the sector and independently coordinating the work of the assigned office for all administrative duties to include budget, inventory, property, fleet, workforce management, workers compensation, payroll, and travel.

Serves as a Biological Science Technician assisting with a variety of sea turtle science and recovery projects, which include collection of sea turtle data and gathering information related to sea turtle stranding projects and sea turtle nesting projects. The position will include both administrative functions conducted in an office setting along with field work conducted in difficult and varied environmental conditions, including high temperatures, cold temperatures, wind, and humidity in a sandy and rough beach terrain.

• Patrols beaches on utility-transport vehicles and 4-wheel drive vehicles to detect nesting turtles, live and dead stranded sea turtles in varied weather conditions such as strong winds, rain, and unstable beach terrain.
• Documents and transports nesting turtles, nests, stranded live and dead sea turtles.
• Safely lift, carry, drag, bury, and move live and dead sea turtles, sea turtle eggs and camping gear.
• May primitive camp overnight in shared, backcountry remote cabin or tent for 3-5 nights per week.
