An opportunity has arisen at Salford Royal Hospital for the appointment of a Locum Consultant Upper GI Surgeon. The successful candidate will join an established team 11 Upper GI / Bariatric Surgeons.

It is proposed that the appointees will provide 10 PAs per week (which will include outpatient clinics, operating theatre lists, and administration). The job plan will be a flexible job plan.

All Consultants will be allocated 1 core SPA per week for professional development (CPD), Job Planning, Appraisal, Mandatory Training, attendance at regular team meetings which will have a clinical governance aspect and participating in Audit.

Additional SPA time will be made available to consultants on the basis of evidenced need. Such allocation will be agreed and subsequently reviewed.

The appointee will be expected to participate fully in the provision of District General Hospital services to the residents of Salford.

The Endoscopy Unit performs a variety of standard and advanced Endoscopic procedures for both out-patients and in-patients including; gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastroscopy (PEG) insertion, oesophageal stenting and ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography). Reporting to the Endoscopy Unit Manager you will be responsible for the decontamination of endoscopes, assisting endoscopists in the procedure room, be the patients named nurse acting as their advocate ensuring privacy and dignity throughout the endoscopy journey.

You will be able to demonstrate good leadership skills, be adaptable to a changing environment and possess good written and verbal communication skills. Although experience would be desirable, full training will be given as this is a developmental post which will cover all areas of Endoscopy. Your training needs will be supported by our highly experienced Practice Development Nurse.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Acute Research Delivery Team (ARDT) as a Research Nurse at Salford Care Organisation.

You will be delivering clinical trials across the Trauma and Emergency Care and Critical Care Portfolio's and therefore evidence of proven experience within one of these areas is desirable.

The ARDT works a 5 day extended hours service. This post is for three years, on a fixed term position for one qualified nurse.

• Screening and recruiting eligible participants

We are looking for a motivated and effective communicator with a ‘can do’ attitude and an eye for detail; they will need to take ownership and delivery of their work with a desire to develop their research skills.

You should be organised/able to prioritise and demonstrate initiative, within the ethically approved confines of the protocol and Good Clinical Practice; able to thrive on challenges and be an effective problem solver.
