As a Coventry City Council desktop engineer, you will be part of the End User Device team, supporting over 5500 corporate users across a range of business applications, and a range of hardware; Laptops, mobiles, tablets, meeting rooms, MFDs etc. We also provide support and services a significant number of schools, Adult Education sites and public libraries; as well as ad hoc events such as the Godiva festival and elections.

What is the job role?As a Desktop Support Analyst, you will be working with a team of experienced desktop analysts in a multi-site environment, supporting corporate council staff, schools, adult education, libraries, and extended learning centres. There is an expectation that site visits will be undertaken in this role when required, so a driving license is desirable.
You will be responsible for; imaging, installing, and configuring computers, mobile and tablet devices, diagnosing hardware and software faults, supporting AV kit, printers, software installation & deployment, fulfilling requests and resolving technical issues remotely or in person on a site visit.
You will work in a demanding ITIL service environment, ensuring completion of work to agreed quality and timescales. There is also the opportunity for further development by contributing to project implementation, such as SCCM, Intune, Office 365, Windows 10/11.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?We are looking for a motivated, passionate, and committed person to work in our End User Device team, who will provide support and on-going maintenance of the Coventry City Council estate, our education and library services, through to ad-hoc events such as the Godiva Festival.
Prior experience working in a desktop support role is desirable, but most importantly you must be a logical thinker, have a desire to learn, and be a good communicator with excellent customer service skills. On the job training will be provided to enhance & grow your technical skillset.
You will be working alongside other IT and business teams to ensure all assets, access, security, and changes are consistently managed in line with Council policies.

• Providing great service to stakeholders of all levels
• Good working knowledge of Windows 10/11, and Office 365
• Exceptional troubleshooting, diagnostic and triage skills
• Excellent communication & documentation skills
