What you will do: 

Service Technicians diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on card access, CCTV, burglar alarm systems, electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites.  

How you will do it:

• Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices and bulletins, modification notices, etc. to repair equipment.  
• Service, troubleshoot, and install card access, CCTV, and burglar alarm systems.  
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.  

• Exhibit effective customer service skills by consistently communicating with staff and customers to ensure customer satisfaction. 
• Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as smart phones and laptop computers.  
• Obtain customer signature upon completed service call assignment.  
• Available for on-call emergency service.  
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

What we look for:  

Required 

• 2-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
• 4 years documented experience with card access and CCTV. 
• Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices. 
• Experience installing, inspecting, repairing, and programming card access and CCTV. 
• Fire alarm experience is a PLUS! 
• Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals. 
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. 
• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs. 
• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc. 
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements. 
• Overnight travel may be required. 
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service. 
• Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.

What you will do 

A Johnson Controls Security Technician is a troubleshooter and service expert possessing knowledge and experience with intrusion, IP CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems from multiple manufacturers. Candidate will possess strong verbal communication skills as they identify the needs of the customer and then inform them of next steps and processes to repair the system as needed to return full functionality. Candidate will possess skills and experience to inspect said systems to ensure proper functionality and provide written or digital reports to customer and company as needed.

How you will do it

•  Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring.

• Readjust equipment, repair, or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.

• Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies.

• Performs repair and/or inspections of intrusion detection, IP CCTV, Access Control systems and fire alarms (if applicable).

• Assists fellow service technicians with system repairs and completes minor repairs including battery replacement.

• Tests operation of system to the customer monitoring center to properly establish service connectivity.

• Complete all forms accurately and customer paperwork as required.

What we look for

Required

• Five to Seven years’ experience in designing, installing, inspecting, and repairing integrated fire and security systems/applications.

• Advanced skills in computer operations and programs, as well as IP Backbone Architecture, TCP/IP protocol.

• Ability to effectively interact with internal organization and customers.

• Experienced in multiple major brands of security and fire manufacturer products.

• Ability to interpret blueprints, building plans, electrical, schematics and sprinkler/fire plans.

• Ability to occasionally travel out of town to customer locations and training.

• Ability to pass government background and drug test.

• Available after hours to provide off-site software and hardware support and if required on-site support to resolve system failures for integrated applications.

What you will do:

Responsible for designing, installing, and servicing the software and hardware for integrated applications following governing codes and standards. Design, install and service various types of communication applications to include wireless and LAN/Wan based security, fire, video surveillance and access control solutions following governing codes and standards. 
 

Although this position reports to the MA area branch, this role will be based in Williston VT. Candidates must be local to Williston VT area or willing to relocate.   
 

How you will do it:    

• Design, installs and services the software and hardware for integrated systems/applications without supervision.
• Completes system and network programming as required.
• Locates and clears trouble with damaged equipment or wiring, readjusts equipment, repairs or replaces inoperative equipment and test for proper operation.
• Maintains as a positive liaison between Tyco IS and the customer to ensure proper communication is filtered through the Tyco IS and the customer organization while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and customer satisfaction.
• Coordinates testing and final acceptance of system/application with the customer, police, fire or other agencies as required.
• Ensures proper application of systems products to meet customer requirements.          
• Responsible for engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance and support of data/video communication networks including wireless and IP solutions.
• Develop and provide training and technical support tools for users with varying levels of IT, Security and Fire knowledge and competence.
• Construct and maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of security, fire and network configurations, diagrams and programming records. Create detailed security, fire and networked server documentation, including physical diagrams, logical diagrams, IP address schemes and asset management and database designs.

• Good working knowledge of required technical hardware such as Cisco Routers, CSU, DSU, bridges, multiplexers, servers and switches; knowledge of building, configuring, and troubleshooting campus networks and remote access networks using Cisco Catalyst multi-layer switching technologies over high-speed Ethernet and Cisco routers connected to wired and wireless LANs
