Damp and mould surveyor needed Ref 5258776

The role will cover Wiltshire and Hampshire, so candidates will need to be suitably based for this.

They will be used to completing property inspections and that is the crux of this role. The main focus of this role is to complete damp and mould and disrepair surveys, identifying building defects, and completing any further investigations to accurately diagnose and rectify any faults including damp remediation.

This will involve specifying works for our DLO as well as managing contractors to ensure all works are completed to a high standard and in good time.

They will need to produce high quality condition reports of each property that our solicitors can rely on in court and be willing to appear in court as a witness if required.

This role will also involve supporting our team of Response Surveyors by completing comprehensive damp investigations in problematic properties, providing advice and training to other members of the team and handling complaints.

An expertise in building pathology and experience in damp investigations will be a big asset in this role as would excellent customer care skills to help us manage these difficult cases.

They won’t be alone; they’ll be working with two other Disrepair Surveyors in Aster and between them will complete surveys across the group. We are looking to base this role in Hampshire/Wiltshire, however there may be a requirement to travel further into our operating regions which include, Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

The ideal candidate will have -

Qualifications & experience - they will have a relevant technical (HNC or higher) qualification in Building, Surveying, damp remedial works or similar technical field or will be able to demonstrate 6 years plus of experience within this sector. Strong working knowledge of Disrepair legislation, the Landlord Tenancy act 1985, Homes for Habitation and HHSRS assessments.

Skills & Abilities - A strength will be time management and they will be experienced in working to deadlines, whilst maintaining performance and budget targets. A confident user of IT, particularly MS Word and be comfortable with producing written reports and floor plans.

Communication – A confident communicator, being able to relay complex information to contractors and customers alike with the ability to change needs to meet the audience. Comfortable communicating verbally and in writing.

Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Job Summary

This incumbent is accountable for the completion of construction work in a timely and profitable manner consistent with project objectives and within budget.

He is overall responsible to oversee all construction activities with respect to schedule, performance, procedure, and making recommendations to Project Managers for improvements and corrective actions. He is also tasked to oversee the delivery and use of materials, tools, and equipment; and the quality of construction, staff productivity, and safety. He also oversees all sites’ HSSE Management and comply to local government and client HSSE regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supervise sub-contractor and coordinate with various agencies.
• Manpower planning, deployment and control.
• Coordinate to resolve construction issues and manage schedule.
• Safety mind-set and able to develop RA and permit to work application.
• Good written and oral communication.
• Good interpersonal skill to deal with people at construction site.
• Prepare construction execution plan/ policies.
• Monitoring work schedule, progress, performance, etc.
• Conduct meetings.
• Initiate, and coordinate meetings with other disciplines.
• Approval of change in specifications or procedures.
• Prepare reports, handing over procedures/ closing out procedures, etc.
• Responsible for all problems solving on site.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 to 15 years’ of relevant experience in construction field.
• Independently manage construction work in an operational plant (refinery).
• Accountable for the completion of construction work in a timely, profitable manner.
• Experience in oil and gas or chemical projects.
• Good knowledge and experience in construction planning and execution.
