You will join an experienced commercial investment team at Somerset Council who are responsible for the strategic management of over 100 tenants occupying properties which generate over £20m of rental income. As an Estates Surveyor in this role, you will assist with the negotiation and management of lease events, service charges, and rent reviews, whilst working in partnership with managing agents to negotiate effective terms.

Experience and Qualifications:

Essential

You will work with a wide range of internal and external professional stakeholders to ensure that there is a 'market led' approach to the development of schemes, undertaking market analysis and using professional intelligence to ensure that plans are fit for purpose.

As part of your role, you will also:

• Analyse and evaluate complex technical information to develop commercial judgements and provide professional advice.
• Help to negotiate terms for acquisition or disposal of sites (freehold / leasehold) to ensure that best value is obtained.
• Identify, and co-ordinate external and internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure cases and schemes are progressed effectively.
• Outline scopes and detailed design to ensure fit with applicable rental markets.
• Work closely with the council planning function to ensure strategic objectives are secured through site allocation decisions.
• Develop and deliver secure planning consents.
