Our client is a family-owned contractor that provides both private and public contract services nationwide. Their project experience covers the key sectors including; Private & Commercial, Housing, Health, Community & Leisure, Aviation and Education. Due to continued success and a further increase in company growth, a position is now available for a Quantity Surveyor.

Your new role
Reporting to the Commercial Director and working closely with the Operational Team, you will be responsible for the delivery and management of a variety of projects as well as providing regular updates on the performance of ongoing projects valued up to £3m. You will be predominantly office based in the Chesterfield office, however hybrid working is available. From measuring and pricing work to the negotiation and agreement of final accounts, you will be solely responsible for the project from inception right through to completion.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying and will be commercially and contractually aware with a good knowledge of construction processes. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience in a Quantity Surveyor role. Experience in the Build side of the construction industry would be an advantage, but is not essential. As a person, you will have excellent communication skills as you will be expected to interact with the operational team and subcontractors on a regular basis. Additionally, you must be IT proficient and preferably demonstrate experience in the use of construction software packages. Strong negotiation skills and effective time management will be essential for the role.

Accurately log inquiries and relevant information into appropriate systems.

Customer Details Management: Process changes to customer details efficiently, minimizing the need for multiple service team handoffs.

Reporting: Assist in the development and presentation of reports related to complaints and service improvements.

A social housing provider in Chesterfield is looking for a Lead Technical & Quality Assurance Surveyor to join their team on a permanent basis. This will work as part of the repairs & maintenance function.
Perm, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Salary- £40,000 - £45,000- plus £963 car allowance, mileage paid at 36p per mile
Flexible working between the hours of 8-4 & 9-5
Working from home will be an option once settled in but all office based until then.
Also includes a number of site visits to complete inspections


Your new role


Going out to both occupied and void properties to complete inspections of works completed to check quality and assess any additional work/sign off completion.
Responsible for Surveying team.

Handling disrepairs cases and deciding what work needs doing and whether this should be at the cost of the organisation or the tenant.
Handling tenants requests to complete own works.
Manage own workload and schedule to complete site visits and office/admin time
Liaising with a number of different parties (maintenance staff, contractors, tenants etc.)


What you'll need to succeed


Must have good understanding of maintenance & repairs (this can be from a trade or a surveying/inspections background)
Must have a full UK driving license and own vehicle
MCIOB / MRICS essential

Must have experience in liaising with tenants and/or pricing jobs and/or inspecting properties
Ideally have worked in social housing previously

Your new role


- Responsible for the survey, design, planning, co-ordination, and supervision of work on specified repairs, adaptations and programmes of work delivered by the in-house team and those sub-contracted externally.
- Responsible for Quality Assurance on delivered works including providing reports, photographs and information on rectifying any issues with materials, workmanship or matters relating to customer feedback.
- Ensure that all surveys are carried out in a professional manner with excellent customer communication whilst on site and outcomes or decisions to be followed up in writing and recorded on the Open Housing system.
- Ensure the approach to all works support the long-term asset investment and housing management strategies of the Company.
- Promote the use of alternative materials whilst supporting innovation through the recommendation of new and alternative construction methods


What you\'ll need to succeed


- Have a thorough knowledge of building construction, materials, components, methods, and defects.
- Understanding of the Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
- Adaptation/disabilities inspection and Building Regulation requirements.
- Extensive post qualification experience in the construction industry
- Have experience of budget monitoring in terms of ordering repairs which represent value for money
- Evidence of training in relation to the Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
- Evidence of training in terms of property Damp and methods used in remediation.
- Evidence of training in relation to the CDM Regulations
- Evidence of training in respect of the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP)
- Ability to produce technical drawings.
- Keyboard and ICT skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, inclusive of specification development and costing.

Our client requires a Labourer for a 1 week - ongoing contract on a residential site in Chesterfield, S42 area.

The successful candidate must hold a CSCS card, all their own PPE, and be able to provide trade references. Duties will include assisting trades on site by moving materials and general site tidy.

This position is due to start over in January 2024. Pay rate quoted is paid through an umbrella company.
