A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior / Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Tier 1 organisation in East Anglia. As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for leading and supporting the Commercial team on a variety of projects from Education to Commercial, Healthcare, Leisure and public sector.

Your day to day will look like:

• Exposure to the full project lifecycle with involvement across pre-construction through to project delivery
• Working alongside the project delivery team, to ensure the contractual control and cost management of projects across different sectors
• Managing the commercial aspects of subcontract accounts from procurement to interim and final account agreement
• Being involved with the final account negotiation to ensure the best possible outcome

To be considered for the role, they would like:

• HNC / HND in Surveying or equivalent
• Proven experience as the SQS / Commercial lead working with a regional / national contractor
• A good understanding of building regulations and legal obligations
• A good knowledge of construction methods and materials
• Strong mathematical and IT ability
• Negotiating and networking skills
• Excellent communications skills
• Good team working skills

The Projects:

The Role:

This is the perfect opportunity working with a well known civils contractor, who hold an excellent reputation in the regionally.

This role will be site / office based 5 days a week, with occasional option for working remotely.

You will be responsible for:

• Procuring sub-contractors, agreeing prices and letting the packages
• Negotiating costs with various parties
• Drawing up contracts (NEC)
• Monthly reporting (CVR)
• Responsible for work package change control and management
• Dealing with any pricing variations
• Responsible for project re-measure
• Preparing final accounts
• Change management
• Managing subcontractors
• Working within an integrated team

Requirements:

• NEC 3 or 4 (option A)
• Degree / HND in Quantity Surveying
• Excellent IT and maths skills are essential
• Attention to detail
• Excellent report writing and negotiation skills are essential
• Experience in - highways, bridges, infrastructure, environmental, frameworks and special works

Benefits:

• £60,000 - 70,000 per annum (depending on experience) + package

• Oversee Management of Subcontractors - certification of payment and change
• Undertake management of allocated Control Accounts with site team including value draw and out-turn forecast / spend profiling
• Keep cost records and agreement of costs with National Highway Site Representatives
• Assist in the Utilisation of Site Commercial and Document Systems
• Be responsible for the procurement of packages as the Work Proceeds

We are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor for a secured live projects in the Thetford area for a national Tier 1 contractor.

They work in the education, local authority, health care, commercial/industrial and leisure marketplaces and a majority of the work is won through frameworks such as SCF, Pagabo, DFE and strategic partnerships with local authorities and large independent government bodies. All the work is either framework, negotiated or 2 stage bids. You will have full commercial reporting authority for the scheme and we will be responsible for forecasting and the financial health of the scheme and you will report into a visiting commercial manager and have the full support and backing of a national contractor.
