Summary
Morgan Hunt are working with a housing provider, who are looking for a Building Surveyor to join their Property Department in managing and developing a portfolio of 400 properties, mainly residential dwellings for clergy. Your role will be crucial in providing technical surveying expertise to maintain and enhance our property portfolio. You will report into the Director of Property Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site and structural inspections, analyse building defects, and supervise repairs.
- Prepare construction drawings, write schedules and specifications, and obtain tenders.
- Advise on Property and Planning Law, lodge applications, and negotiate with Local Authorities.
- Conduct small-scale land surveys and quinquennial inspection surveys.
- Assist in strategic policy development and modernizing departmental procedures.
- Act as a client in negotiations with loss adjusters and statutory authorities.
- Handle jobbing repairs and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Maintain records and act on behalf of the diocese in Party Wall Matters.
- Provide professional advice to parishes and attend meetings as needed.
About you
- Chartered Building Surveyor (RICS) with post-qualification experience.
- Strong diplomatic skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Team player with knowledge of modern and traditional building methods.
- Proficiency in building design, producing high-standard drawings and documents.
- Understanding of Property and Planning Law.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience in cost control and familiarity with Building Regulations and CDM Regulations.
- Proficient in IT (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook Express). Familiarity with digital photography is a plus.
- Experience in direct client communication, site supervision, and producing working drawings.
- Full driving license, own vehicle, and willingness to travel extensively (car allowance and expenses provided).
