Typical day as an Asset Building Surveyor

• Undertake building surveying and inspections, providing creative solutions to maximise asset performance, which might range from complicated defect issues, non-trad stock, existing schemes which require re-configuration to new viable uses.
• Analysing existing stock data, collecting additional information from specialist consultants and preparing long term investment plans.
• Delivering bespoke projects from initial findings through spec, appointing project teams and driving forward to completion.
• Ensuring we have a good commercial understanding of our assets by evaluating and carrying out financial appraisal of schemes.
• Attending site meetings regularly to perform the function of the client, keeping our project teams and other key stakeholders informed of any variations.

You have

• Experience of working on projects (private or public sector) as a Building/Projects Surveyor, from inception to completion including appointing the project team and securing all approvals. You’ll have experience of the planning system and implementing compliant and approved schemes including decent homes plus.
• Expert in investigating, diagnosing and conducting complex property conditions surveys, carrying out inspections, specifying remediation works and working with external partners.
• A MRICS or MCIOB, accredited Building Surveying degree or equivalent strong experience built up through your working profession.
• A current knowledge of building construction, design and CDM requirements. Good knowledge of relevant codes of practice, building regulations, legislation, standards and materials.
• Experience in the creation of tender and construction documentation schedules of work, specifications, drawings produced using AutoCAD Lt, and MS project.

Typical day as a Senior Asset Building Surveyor

• Delivering our programme of housing, refurbishment and remediation works to properties, ensuring, governance approvals are in place, budget control and objectives are fully met. You’ll successfully lead a team of Surveyors, guiding, developing and making it a great place to work for them.
• Reviewing our portfolio and ensuring investment plans are in place for each individual site and estate, liaising with internal colleagues and key stakeholders to work up programmes and budgets.
• Developing our long-term survey requirements so we can meet future business needs including supporting survey programmes, property inspections and ensuring quality assurance is high and data collected is accurate.
• Ensuring we have a good commercial understanding of our assets by reviewing, evaluating, and carrying out financial appraisal of schemes, achieving the best possible outcome with realistic solutions.

You have

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our asset team as Lead Property Data Analyst. In this brilliant role, you’ll make a big difference support the delivery of our asset management strategy through regional business planning, maximising performance and investment.

You’ll work intuitively collaboratively with our wider Asset team, Maintenance and Regeneration to implement business planning that maximises the performance of each function and investment, effectively managing stakeholder relationships.

Typical day as Lead Property Data Analyst

• Through effective business planning and recommendations, you’ll support our teams to provide the right homes in the right places, improving standards and energy performance.


• Supporting robust performance management through reporting, using our systems to effectively analyse and interpret asset and property data, supporting business, Executive, Board and Regulatory reporting.


• Contributing to robust business planning and control framework by ensuring reporting systems are in place, supporting wider asset team activity such as asset performance model and regional planning, sales and higher risk building activity.


• Driving continuous improvements in our systems and processes, working with a commercial focus and customers at the heart of everything that you do.

You have

• Have a professional accountancy qualification or equivalent professional experience of managing, delivering reporting and analytical requirements that drive value and outcomes into the business.


• Experience in a relevant asset, reporting, commercial, finance or project role, with an understanding of underlying business processes, data management, business reporting and systems.


• Have a relevant degree and/or have substantial experience of working in social housing.


• Advanced Excel skills and be IT literate.


• Exceptional communication skills to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


• You’ll be intuitively collaborative, have an eye on the detail and can bring creative spark.

• This is a hybrid role, so you’ll typically work from home and spend 1-2 days in the office. There will also be some occasional travel and working from our other office locations.

Typical day as an Estate Liaison Officer

• Overseeing maintenance works carried out by our trades team and partner contractors, ensuring high quality work and that our customers are happy with the outcome.
• Working alongside the Home Group retrofit project team - delivering sustainability projects nationally where required. Ensuring a high level of customer service, communication, and updates, making sure that our customers are fully aware of what work is required, why, and how these will be delivered.
• Supporting our Maintenance and Contract Manager and Surveyors to improve quality standards of repairs and ensuring homes are maintained to a high standard.
• Acting on behalf of and representing our customers with trades, contractors and subcontractors.
• The key point of contact during maintenance works, quickly resolving any customer issues and ensuring that they are at the heart of decision making.
• Driving customer satisfaction and maintenance improvements through analysis, insight, and feedback to support us to deliver on our customer promise.

You have

• Experience of overseeing maintenance works with a good technical understanding.
• Knowledge or prepared to gain the knowledge of Retrofit work, or an understanding of PAS2035.
• Able to communicate technical maintenance specifications and works requirements to customers in a way that is clearly understood.
• Passionate about driving customer satisfaction and have the tenacity needed to resolve long standing and complex customer complaints.
• A self-starter approach, able to work unsupervised to manage your own patch.

• This is a hybrid role, and you’ll spend most of your week working in our communities across the Northwest of Cumbria, and across Northeast Regions, planning and travelling between these locations on a regular basis to support the delivery of the planned Retrofit work. You’ll spend the others working from our office in One Strawberry Lane, Newcastle or Anthorne House, Maryport or working from home.
• There may be some flexibility to adapt your working hours, do let us know about this when you meet us at the interview
• We mainly work Monday to Friday and work occasional evenings to meet with customers. The great news is that you’ll be able to shape your own diary.
• To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we’ll pay your mileage!
• You’ll need a Standard DBS check done and we pay for that.
• You must be able to use technology for updating records, completing online learning, and collaborating with other colleagues.
