Your new role

You will be working with a leading Social Housing provider in North Yorkshire, as part of a multidisciplinary team; to undertake inspections of residences, to diagnose and make evidence-based recommendations to ensure the housing portfolio is maintained at a high standard. You will be responsible for carrying out a variety of surveys including planned and reactive maintenance repairs, voids, damp and mould and condensation surveys. You will create a schedule of works based on your findings before engaging with stakeholders, such as contractors/developers and local authorities, in order to ensure that identified defects have been repaired to the required standard. You will listen to and log customer's queries during your visits, providing a point of referral.

What you'll need to succeed

Ideally, a technical qualification such as HNC/RICS
Experience of working in a Social Housing or Local Authority Environment (ideally residential properties)
Repairs/ Maintenance/ Disrepair/ Damp and Mould/ Voids experience
Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of customers

Your New Role:
An established housing association in North Yorkshire is looking for a maintenance or building surveyor to join their team. Working in a small team to provide a professional and reliable service by delivering a technical surveying service, whilst ensuring the organisation delivers high performance, value for money, compliance targets and provides decent and energy-efficient homes.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct annual stock condition surveys to assess property conditions.
• Provide clear instructions and supervision for in-house maintenance operatives.
• Raise works orders for both in-house staff and external contractors
• Produce accurate and concise reports using Office applications and bespoke software.
• Manage contractors effectively.
• Inspect properties, diagnose building defects, and create specifications.
• Provide accurate estimates for building works.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety regulations.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

• HNC qualification in building or construction or equivalent
• Experience of property inspection, maintenance contracting, and front line working with contractors
• Experience of planned and reactive surveying works
• A valid driving licence is essential.

As a Senior Surveyor, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient technical services within our organisation. This will include becoming a key figure in the repair services department and steering the organisation's reactive maintenance. Your responsibilities will encompass property inspections, risk-based assessments, and managing repair projects. Compliance with health and safety regulations is paramount, and you'll provide expert advice while collaborating with tenants and stakeholders.

• What You'll Need to Be Successful

You will need to be an experienced repair surveyor working within social housing and have the proven ability to manage diagnostics, structural defects and insurance work. Demonstrate expertise in housing and property service maintenance and refurbishment, including proficiency in budget planning and resource monitoring, experience in managing construction work, including subcontractors, and a track record of meeting deadlines and KPIs. You will need to be proficient in maximising IT / software to improve the surveying service. Experience using Housing Health & Safety Rating System is desired.

Your new role
Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the contract managers, you will be responsible for pricing, managing and delivering a range of small to medium-sized fitouts for a range of large corporate entities across the UK.' Communicating closely with the clients' property team, you will be responsible for commercially delivering these projects ensuring our clients commercial position is protected and enchanced. A key part of this role is the assertive management of key relationships while maintaining a positive working relationship with the client.


What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in quantity surveying and have significant experience of working in a fast-paced construction environment dealing with multiple smaller projects concurrently. You will be highly organised and commercially savvy and understand how to influence people effectively. You will have a solid understanding of construction and fitout and enjoy the commercial cut and thrust of making money in an environment such as this. There is a great opportunity here for someone to come in and step into a commercial management role over time.
