The Role in Brief:
We are looking for a motivated individual who can join our Technical Documentation Team in a joint role as a graphic designer and typesetter. This role requires exemplary attention to detail and involves being able to follow fixed brand guidelines as set out by our customers.
The Technical Documentation Department helps our clients to create, review and translate instruction manuals, labels, packaging and other technical documents in order to meet the regulatory requirements of the markets they sell their products into. Joining the team as a graphic designer and typesetter, will allow you to be exposed to our technical writing and translation teams, alongside working independently to ensure line drawings and content are suitable for the end consumer.
Key Responsibilities:
Graphic Design:
1) Creating line drawings and graphics based on photos and reference manuals across a wide range of consumer products (electrical items, sports equipment, toys, furniture items, garden items, power tools)
2) Work and adhere to existing brand guidelines and designs as requested by the client
Typesetting:
1) Work closely with the Translation Team and Technical Writing Team to develop target-language InDesign files across 52+ languages, including Asian and European languages.
2) Typesetting tasks include, but are not limited to: choosing the suitable fonts, deciding acceptable font sizes, managing line spacing and organizing the text layout on a page to ensure the translated manual matches the approved master file.
3) Adhering text layout and specific style guide requirements based on clients’ briefing and internal guidelines.
