As a Senior Enterprise Architect at SSE, you'll drive value through analysing business demands and organisational goals to provide technology strategy direction. This will guide the delivery of technology changes to achieve the required outcomes from a Business Unit and Group perspective. You will be responsible for the evolution of architecture from current to future state for the Security domain.

- This role will focus principally on Security technologies, but you will use your broader business and technology knowledge, working in a team of cross-domain architects, to provide relevant and timely guidance to your stakeholders.

- You will evaluate technology changes in a complex estate and make the necessary challenges and steers to align delivery with strategic direction, whilst considering the immediate operational needs of the business.

- You will provide oversight on future state designs and assure solutions adhere to architecture principles, guardrails, standards and the target state architecture.

- As a strong leader and influencer, you'll analyse the business and central roadmaps and work with key stakeholders to define the technology strategy within the Security domain.

- You will facilitate and arbitrate architecture decisions to maximise business value, resolve issues and ensure informed decisions are made in the best interests of the Group.

You'll demonstrate your extensive ability to work at senior/executive levels and will have the ability to define the value provided from Information Technology in a way that is compelling for your audience. Your pragmatic approach will mean you can balance business needs that are both strategic and tactical.

- Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex security solutions. Previous experience working with Operational Technologies would be advantageous.

- Expert knowledge of security frameworks, regulations, standards, and best practices, such as NIST, CAF, COBIT, ISO, NIS, GDPR, etc.

- Strong skills in security architecture, risk assessment, threat modelling and security testing.

- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and to translate business requirements into security solutions.

- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, TOGAF, or equivalent is highly desirable.

Previous experience in Enterprise Architecture and your proven ability to deliver EA value to senior stakeholders in organisations is essential; however, it will be your drive as an IT professional and your desire to make a positive contribution to the future of SSE, which will help ensure your success in this role.

We have a vacancy for a Data Architect Lead to drive the creation of our vision through designing, creating and managing our data architecture.

The Data Architect Lead, which is an emerging role in our data and analytics team, will play a pivotal part in operationalising the most-urgent data and analytics initiatives whilst delivering on our data strategy. Being a new role in the team, you'll shape best practice, and work collaboratively with data scientists and data engineers to set a roadmap and deliver value.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and drive the implementation of conceptual, physical and logical data models.

- Act as design authority for projects, designing and embedding data architecture standards and principles.

- Manage and mentor a team of data engineers and analysts.

- Collaborate with Data Governance function to drive Data Strategy.

- Liaise with data owners and other business colleagues to shape and define architecture artefacts.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Experience in designing and implementing data models.

- Experience collaborating with data governance to implement data strategy.

- Experience mentoring or managing team members.

- Knowledge of Databricks and Azure/AWS Cloud platforms.

The Corporate IT team supports the key Corporate functions of Human Resources / Finance / Procurement and Logistics. We do this by driving cultural change towards a Digital and Cloud first mindset, providing access to advanced data services, as well as supporting a wide range of critical complex business applications. Payroll, financial reporting, procure to pay and inventory management are the key business processes we support. As a Lead Solution Architect within our Corporate IT team, your role will be to work with business stakeholders to understand the strategy for each of our key services as well as with Group and Enterprise colleagues to ensure we are providing the latest technology innovations to deliver value. You will advise and guide on cloud technologies, as a first principle, with a pragmatic blend of acceptable risk, long term operability, and cost effectiveness. You will be given a remit around creating a future roadmap for technology and platform needs for our growing business including international expansion. You will be responsible for:

- The creation of, or contribution to, the necessary design activities to support proof of value initiatives through to productionised business critical applications. This will include considerations for all the architectural viewpoints such as process, security, data, and operational.

- Solution assurance and to ensure its adherence to SSE risk framework, IT Cyber Security policies, and architectural practices. With innovation in mind, this may require challenging the status quo and providing pragmatic and value driven rationale.

- Being adaptable to working within a delivery context regardless of the delivery method and driver, working towards the desired business outcomes. Collaboration is key, as is taking accountability for your deliverables and with any interfaces into centralised IT teams.

- Understanding technology trends and the practical application of emerging technologies to enable new opportunities and/or to evolve existing services and capabilities.

- Own and run Corporate architecture governance forums, drive key decisions and assess impact across the wider SSE Group.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Extensive ERP design and deployment experience. Oracle eBusiness Suite and Oracle Cloud experience is essential. Oracle Cloud based qualifications preferably aligned to architecture education paths.

- Ability to understand complex business problems and to arrange their resolution such that any dependencies and impacts on the outcome are contextually described.

- Must be willing to take on accountability and deliver against it, regardless of the outcome. You will be pragmatic, not process driven.

- Must be a personable team player willing to play any role in delivering an outcome and be willing to challenge the status quo in an appropriate and grounded manner.

- Familiarity with a range of architecture development processes and methodologies.

Working with the submarine electricity cables team, you will be responsible for managing the engineering and technical elements of design and installation of our submarine cable projects. Our projects vary from the inspection, repair and maintenance of existing submarine cables, to the survey, design and installation of replacement and new submarine cables.

Reporting to the Lead Submarine Cable Design Engineer and relevant Project Managers, you will support the delivery of engineering elements of the projects from the preliminary route identification through to the development of the detailed design and cable installation and commissioning.

With a priority on safety and the environment, you will have technical and design responsibilities within:

- Submarine Cable procurement.

- Submarine Cable route design, including desktop feasibility study, cable burial risk assessment, on bottom stability analysis and UXO risk assessment.

- Preparing pre-construction information and scopes for all aspects of the works in line with SSENs specification and industry best standard.

- Managing technical aspects of Contractors, from delivering survey data, to report generation, through to cable installation.

- Technical support to the wider subsea team, procurement and commercial, environmental and consents.

- Internal design governance processes, including design management and design risk.

You will be responsible for consideration of stakeholder views within the design phase of the projects and during construction, and will be responsible for communicating with and developing internal and external relationships.

What do I need?

To ensure you get the most from your role, and our customers receive the highest standard of service, we ask that you have the following essential experience to join us;

- Experience of submarine power cable landfall assessments, route engineering, design analysis and specifying methods of cable installation, burial and protection, based on marine survey data. Experience of route engineering design with GIS and drawing packages.

- Knowledge of submarine power cable installation, both in deep and shallow waters, and aspects that may affect the cable integrity during installation and operation.  

- Experience of preparing and managing tender packages for submarine power cable works, including installation and marine surveys.

- Experience in considering stakeholder views within the design development.

- Applicable Engineering Degree qualified or equivalent experience.

The following experience is also desirable but not essential for the role;

- Knowledge of the operation of the electrical distribution network.

- Experience of onshore cable route assessment for subsequent connection of the submarine cable to the distribution network.

- Knowledge and application of the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015.

- Experience of preparing pre-construction information, carrying out design risk assessments and design reviews.
