What you'll do

We’re embarking on a new and exciting phase of the bank’s transformation agenda, data science and AI architecture play a crucial role in achieving our mission to simplify, reduce risk and enable customer engagement and personalisation. Supporting the development of architectures and roadmaps of innovative data solutions, leveraging data science and AI, is critical to driving simplification, improving data efficiency, and ensuring data risk stays within tolerance.

In this key role, you’ll be defining and communicating the current, resultant and target state architecture for your enterprise solutions using data science & AI. You’ll also be making sure that the architecture links to, and is informed by, our overall strategy and architecture, and produces the architecture outcomes.

We’ll look to you to influence the development of business strategies at an organisational level, identifying transformational opportunities for our businesses and technology areas associated with both new and existing technologies. You’ll manage and mentor a team of specialist and senior data architects dedicated to supporting architectures for solutions using data science and AI fostering a collaborative, high performance culture that encourages innovation.

As well as this, you’ll:

• Translate architecture roadmaps into packages of work that allow frequent incremental delivery of value to be included in product backlog
• Define, create and maintain architecture models, roadmaps, standards and outcomes, using architecture strategies to ensure alignment to adjacent and higher level model
• Work closely with business owners, portfolio managers, product managers and release managers to define the target intentional architecture
• Lead complex and technically challenging architectural transformations, coordinating design and platform teams across domains
• Stay abreast of the commercial and emerging data technology offerings that may influence current and target Data Science and AI architectures and their governance
• Seek out and utilise continuous feedback, fostering adaptive design and engineering practices to drive the collaboration of programmes and teams around a common technical vision

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with a background in defining business and application architectures and roadmaps for data science and AI based solutions. You’ll bring expert knowledge of enterprise data architecture, solution data architecture, architecture for data science and AI with knowledge of industry architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or ArchiMate.

In addition, you’ll be a thought leader of architecture for data science and AI solutions and enterprise design in the bank influencing business and technology teams. You’ll have excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to colleagues up to senior leadership level, along with a good understanding of Agile methodologies with experience of working in an Agile team.

You’ll also have:

• Experience of developing, syndicating and communicating architectures, designs and proposals for action
• Experience of working with business solution vendors, technology vendors and products within the market
• Experience as an enterprise architect with focus on architecture advisory along with experience in AI or ML and Data Science solutions and patterns
• Experience with developing, data exploration, visualisation and statistical analysis technologies
• Experience with developing, data exploration, visualisation and statistical analysis technologies
• An understanding of neural networking, deep learning and LLM architectures
• Knowledge of Data Science lifecycle, MLOps, model management and automation
• Knowledge of data, architecture frameworks such as DAMA and DCAM as well as data related regulations such as GDPR, CCPA,PCI DSS and BCBS 239
• Architecture knowledge of Tableau, AWS data stack, SageMaker, Python, EMR or Spark, Kafka and Snowflake

Join us as a Business Design & Solutions Lead

• This is a high profile role in the Operations Centre of Excellence that will see you supporting the ongoing definition of the bank wide Operations strategy alongside key business stakeholders
• We’ll look to you to define and mobilise key components of the Operations strategy in partnership with senior Operations leaders and key supporting functions such as Technology and D&A
• You'll have a real opportunity to add value and deliver lasting results in this role, while building meaningful relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders

What you'll do

As a Business Design & Solutions Lead, you’ll play a leading role in driving innovation across Operations and identifying and designing new opportunities that will allow us to execute and deliver on the five year strategic vision for Operations. You’ll make sure that all solutions align to the bank’s strategy and the franchise and functions’ five year plans.

You’ll create, shape, define and own pan-operations and individual franchise opportunities that support delivery of the Operations five year strategic plan and develop the associated business case, securing sign-off and approval of the same from all major stakeholders.

More specifically, you’ll:

• Work closely with key stakeholders across the business to create, shape, define and own pan-operations and individual franchise opportunities
• Make sure that all designs are compliant with all the appropriate governance and policies and in line with the bank’s risk management appetite
• Manage the programme design and associated working groups and project teams to provide strategic direction and leadership
• Understand the impact and associated risks that other programmes may have and manage any associated dependencies

The skills you'll need

To thrive in this role, you’ll need a background in business design and have experience of delivering strategic programmes that support a business strategy and its growth agenda. You’ll have a track record of designing and delivering end-to-end innovative designs and solutions within Operations. You’ll be a trusted partner to senior stakeholders and have the ability to influence them with your ideas and concepts and secure the buy-in of all key decision makers.

In addition, you’ll need to be resilient, creative and free thinking and be prepared to challenge status quo and the conventional ways of doing things. You’ll be comfortable in analysing data and operating in an environment with ambiguity and have sound decision making skills.

You’ll also demonstrate:

• Experience developing compelling strategies that are tangible and grounded
• Experience of working with senior stakeholders in the design, shaping and mobilisation of innovative solutions in an operational construct
• Familiarity with multiple data sources and the ability to leverage those data sources to create insight and inform, both strategy and execution
• Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills

• This is a high impact role in which you’ll provide subject matter expertise on our organisation and workforce design and skills enablement strategy, collaborating across the team to influence key business stakeholders
• You’ll consult with business leaders and our Goal and Shared Capability Teams within the People Domain on the design, implementation, and maintenance of our organisation and workforce to enable an efficient and effective customer focussed business

What you'll do

As an Organisation & Workforce Design Consultant, you’ll lead, support, and implement business specific workforce design projects. This will involve organisation, team, job, skills, and future workforce design, providing subject matter expertise.

You’ll provide independent oversight and challenge on organisation, future workforce, team, and job design, ensuring there is a full understanding and articulation of accountabilities and interdependencies. As such, you’ll ensure strategic design principles are delivered and you’ll contribute to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of workforce design methodology and internal capability.

There will also be the opportunity to leverage further specialist knowledge from within the team regarding organisation and strategic workforce design to support key stakeholders.

In addition to this, you may also:

• Design, create, or deliver the ‘one bank’ skills enablement strategy, framework, and guidance principles, liaising with key industry partners, thought leaders, and strategic partners to bring in outside thinking
• Utilise your design expertise of organisation and future workforce design to shape and steer experimentation in order to test and support future workforce design, partnering with experts across the People Domain and other stakeholders
• Contribute to our Senior Grade Calibration Panel as an active participant, sharing your point of view on proposed sizing
• Provide cover for our job architecture projects and job framework change process

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with experience using appropriate project and agile management tools and methodologies. Along with the ability to interpret data and identify trends and insights, you’ll have strong knowledge and experience of organisation design principles, methods, and practices.

Along with a good understanding of Agile methodologies, you also have experience of working in an Agile team.

As well as this, you'll need experience of enterprise architecture in a large regulated financial institution and experience of assessing and defining options to modernise the core of a large enterprise or major financial institution.

• Championing a One Bank mindset and driving towards this through continuous optimisation and simplification of the architecture, partnering across business and technology to make sure that capabilities are shared and re-used
• Owning the operating model and practice for the discipline of architecture in the bank, setting standards for excellence both in the creation of the architecture and in building the capability of our architect population
