To support the provision of a professional cost-effective, efficient clinical and non-clinical photographic service using digital technologies to service South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. PLEASE REFER TO ATTACHED JOB DESCRIPTION FOR FULL DUTIES OF THE ROLE.

Key Responsibilities: KR 1 Clinical and Client Care To provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for clients (individuals, couples, families and social networks where the identified client has complex mental health needs) according to discipline in the Older Adult Home Treatment Team including patients presenting with personality disorder, psychosis, complex mood disorders people with dementia and their carers To provide culturally appropriate psychological or psychotherapeutic interventions with carers or families of referred clients when required. To assess and monitor risk and draw up appropriate risk management plans. To provide reports, including relevant formulation, opinion and interventions, in order to inform referrers and, where appropriate, service users and their families. To select and deliver evidence-based specialist therapeutic interventions, drawing from a spectrum of ideas and models, monitoring outcome and modifying and adapting interventions as necessary, based on the highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, couple, family or group. To promote psychological support for carers (or families as appropriate) of referred clients. KR 2 Contributing to team or service clinical functioning To contribute to the effective working of the team or service and to a psychologically/psychotherapeutically informed framework for the service. To contribute to the team or services delivery of accessible and acceptable services to diverse local communities. To be proactive in challenging discrimination and support the development of culturally competent services. Toadvise other members of the service on specialist psychological/psychotherapeutic care of clients. To liaise with referrers, GPs and other professionals concerned with clients in order to develop and review care plans. To utilise theory, evidence-basedliterature and research to support evidence-based practice in individual work and work with other team members. To liaise with the service/s MDT and other professionals. KR 3 Policy and service development To implement policies and procedures in own area of work, and to propose improvements or beneficial changes. To contribute to service development through undertaking and participating in appropriate projects. To contribute to the consultation and engagement of service users in planning and delivering services which meet the needs of local communities. KR 4 Care or management of resources To take care of, and use carefully, the Trusts equipment and physical resources. To ensure that the post-holder has sufficient resources by estimating future needs and requesting or ordering supplies as needed. To ensure the cleanliness and safe functioning and use of equipment that will be used by clients or other persons. To monitor and advise clients on the safe use of materials and processes. To ensure adequate confidential and safe storage for artefacts produced during the therapy process in line with professional guidelines. To be responsible for obtaining, storing and maintaining all materials and equipment for the provision of therapy in work setting within budgetary constraints. To ensure that the post-holder has sufficient resources by estimating future needs and requesting or ordering supplies as needed. KR 5 Management and supervision To be responsible for the allocation and/or clinical supervision of the work of more junior psychologists with support from a more senior psychologist. To supervise trainee applied psychologists within own area of specialism. To contribute to the appraisal of more junior psychologists, as appropriate. To contribute to the recruitment of more junior psychologists, as appropriate. To provide supervision for the psychological work of other multi-disciplinary staff as appropriate. KR 6 Teaching and Training To undertake occasional teaching and training of pre and post- qualification psychologists and specialised training to other professions as appropriate. To contribute to the development of the knowledge and skills base within the Older Adult Home Treatment Teams by maintaining an active awareness of current developments in the area and by implementing knowledge gained in practice. To disseminate research and service evaluation findings through presentations and published articles. KR 7 Record-keeping and Information Governance To ensure that all information generated by own work is recorded as required by Trust policies and local procedures. To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing, according to professional and Trust guidelines, including electronic data entry. KR 8 Research and development To initiate, undertake, support and supervise regular complex service evaluation and audits. To initiate and carry out appropriate research To provide expertise in a specialist research area which will contribute to Older Adult Home Treatment Teams. To initiate and implement the development of outcome measurement and assessment and assist other staff in the implementation of same. KR 9 Maintaining professional standards and continuing professional development To receive regular clinical and professional supervision from a more senior psychologist according to HCPC and Trust guidelines. To ensure own Continuing Professional Development in line with BPS and Trust Personal Development Plan requirements and the HCPC Standards for Continuing Professional Development. To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current developments in professional and clinical practice and of relevant legislation and policies. To comply with the HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and Standards of Proficiency, and ensure professional development in line with these. To adhere to the BPSs Professional Practice Guidelines and Trust policies and procedures. KR10 General To travel to home visits, community placements, psychology meetings as appropriate and across the Trust when required. To be aware of risk relating to aggressive and challenging behaviour amongst the client group, and follow trust policies relating to its management. To respond appropriately and professionally to emotionally distressing situations and to support others involved in such situations through Trust-wide approaches including Critical Incident Staff Support and Reflect-Support-Resolve.

Operational Work as part of the design team to carry out graphic techniques and large format digital posters to the highest professional standards, to design illustration and graphic material for patient education, staff and public information. As well as teaching and research support within Cardiff and Vale UHB, under supervision of the Senior Designers, Middleweight Designer or the Head of Graphics and Print. This material may also be used for electronic delivery (e-mail, web design and video animation). Interpret graphic design briefs and requests for large format digital posters to meet clients needs across the Cardiff & Vale UHB, where necessary liaise with the Head of Graphics and Print and/or Senior Designers and Middleweight Designer. Develop visual materials in a variety of formats, to be suitable for the end application, ie web, social, print etc. Use of specialist design software and hardware, for the origination of detailed images and accurate visual representation of data and information. Keep up to date with current software applications. Understand current developments in design, communications, print, digital imaging, multimedia and associated technologies. Manage own workload prioritising where necessary. Maintain quality control of finished work and contribute to the section as a whole during meetings and critiques. Together with the Head of Graphics and Print, Senior Designers and Middleweight Designer assist with the introduction of innovative working practices to reflect service and user needs e.g. large format digital posters, patient interactive information using and web technologies, 2D & 3D animation etc. Communication The post holder will communicate with a range of other healthcare professionals and senior staff. To liaise with Print Unit and external printers when necessary. Work within relevant legislation/policies in data protection/confidentiality and codes of professional conduct/practice. To advise the UHB staff in effective methods of design, production and finishing of graphic design work, including: printed matter, scientific posters, lecture material and digital scanning. Including relevant legislation/policies; in data protection/confidentiality and codes of professional conduct/practice, copyright consent and discrimination. Implements new policies as directed by the Head of Graphics and Print into own working area and propose any changes, which will enhance or benefit the service. Assist the Head of Graphics and Print with forward planning, development and promotion of the UHB graphics and print service. Administration Maintain data archiving regularly and accurate work records. Ensure the efficient use of materials and the cost-effective use of all UHB resources. Adhere to UHB policies and procedures. Supervision and Training Demonstrates own area of working techniques to new employees, trainee clinical photographers and work experience students.

Medical Photography The clinical photography service includes routine clinical photography and video records, both in the studio and on location, photography and video in clinical trials, photography and video of operative and post mortem procedures, gross specimens, personal injury photography and photography of stillbirths. Media Studio provides a comprehensive photography, design and video service with senior photographers taking responsibility for the maintenance and deployment of specialist skills.
