Exciting news for experienced Senior Business Systems Architects! Our growing IT team is seeking a skilled individual to join us as a Senior Business Systems Architect, Cloud Platform. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless development, operation, and performance of cloud services across the business. Your work will play a crucial part in planning the future development of our cloud compute environments and adopting new technologies in line with business demands.
You will work closely with other IT service, operational, and specialist delivery teams to provide a robust, scalable, and resilient cloud environment and drive the transformation of our cloud-first strategy.
Our office is conveniently located at Junction 41 in Wakefield, just off the M1, with free parking. We offer a flexible, hybrid way of working, but all colleagues are required to work in the office for a minimum of 1 to 2 days per week, with the expectation of added attendance when needed.

Role Responsibility
- To provide cloud technology expertise and support development of a cloud strategy.
- Provide guidance, thought leadership, and knowledge to the wider business to achieve its wider ambitions.
- Understand various public cloud environments.
- Develop and drive the implementation of a cloud adoption plan
- Be responsible for the management and maintenance of the organisations cloud environment.
- Developing and managing containerization in line with a DevOps model.
- Review SaaS offerings for SQL and create implementation plans as required.
- Support with the design, build and maintenance of all cloud-based systems using Azure.
- Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards for code quality and thoughtful design.
- Manage all cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
- Work closely with and interact with internal stakeholders up to SLT level. Ability to translate technical aspects into language that non-technical team members will understand.
- Develop and train other IT Team members.
- Collaborate closely with diverse IT teams to enhance our cloud infrastructure and optimize its performance.
- Recommend improvements to existing infrastructure and support development of plans for future growth.
- Configure infrastructure as code and best practise deployments.
- Act as the SME for production, Test and Development instances.
The Ideal Candidate
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud engineering or a related field.
- Deep technical knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is required.
- Strong technical knowledge of cloud security models and hardening techniques.
- Have delivered enterprise level network implementations.
- Delivery and knowledge of technical projects across multiple locations
- Change and Transformation experience.
- Wide ranging server knowledge, including server OS (Linux and Windows.
- Knowledge of virtualization software, storage platforms, networking equipment, etc.
- Excellent Communication skills and able to work with stakeholders up to C-Suite level.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
