Description: The Disability Support Worker/personal care assistant is tasked with offering tailored care and support to individuals with disabilities, aiding them in reaching their personal goals and improving their quality of life. This role includes assisting clients with daily living activities, fostering independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. The Disability Support Worker/ personal care assistant collaborates closely with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality, person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Personal Care:
• Assist clients with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Support clients with mobility and transfers, prioritizing their safety.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor clients’ health conditions.
Daily Living Support:
• Help clients with meal preparation, feeding, and household chores.
• Assist clients in engaging in social, recreational, and community activities.
• Encourage and support clients in developing skills and achieving their personal goals.
Health and Safety:
• Monitor and report any changes in clients' health and well-being.
• Ensure clients' environments are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
• Adhere to all health and safety protocols and procedures.
Documentation and Communication:
• Keep accurate and up-to-date records of clients' care and progress.
• Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in care team meetings and contribute to the development and review of care plans.
Requirements:
• Comprehensive understanding of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.
• Certificate III in individual Support, Disability, Age Care or Higher.
• First Aid and CPR Certification.
• NDIS Workers Screening.
• National Police Clearance.
• Working With Children Check.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to be flexible with work hours to meet reasonable demands of the position.
• Empathetic and proactive with a genuine interest to work in this field.
• The ability to self-supervise and to remain calm and composed at times of crisis.
• Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies.
