Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

• Provides expert advice and assistance to the Scientific Analysis (SA) Director, Laboratory Director and Deputy Laboratory Directors in Hawaii and Nebraska.

• Provides leadership to the Quality Assurance Program (QAP), implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) established by the SA Director, provide administrative assistance to scientific staff, and provide advice to the Laboratory Director on matters of policy and procedure as they relate to quality assurance and accreditation under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025: General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories and all supplemental requirements of external accrediting bodies.

• Utilizes appropriate project management techniques to coordinate and develop program execution plans for routine and special laboratory projects to ensure that the organization's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services are articulated and communicated to the team when assigning projects, solving problems and/or program issues.

• Serves as the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative regarding contracts that pertain to the services rendered by external accrediting bodies that include annual fees for compliance monitoring of the SA Directorate and fees for accreditation inspections and annual surveillance visits as well as laboratory support services contracts.

• Is the Lead Security Manager for the SA Directorate and liaises with DPAA Security Directorate officials. Incumbent is the Point of Contact with the DPAA Logistics Directorate regarding aspects of security for the laboratory.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

• Leads the planning, execution and assessment process of each Defense POW /MIAAccounting Agency (DPAA) course.
• Responsible for compiling records of all relevant instruction materials and updating the DPAA portals.
• Develops original coursework through study of Agency activities and processes aimed at improving organizational effectiveness and mission accomplishment.
• Provides the Senior Operations Officer and Directorate leadership with advice and guidance on matters, such as development of time-phased planes, guidelines and direction for accomplishment of prescribed objectives.
• Provides written and oral guidance, and or briefings on current and proposed courses for students with use of automation tools.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

• Serves as a forensic anthropologist providing professional, scientific leadership to a team engaged in forensic and biological anthropological studies and investigations leading to establish the medico-legal identity of skeletal remains.
• Performs professional anthropological laboratory examinations and testing to current laboratory standards and in keeping with published best practices on remains to determine ancestry, age, sex, stature, trauma, surgical intervention, and other physical characteristics and anomalies in support of forensic identification.
• Plans and directs investigations and archaeological excavations designed to achieve casualty resolution.
• Serves as Program leader for overseeing and performing forensic recoveries of missing U.S. Service Personnel using modern forensic and archaeological techniques.
• Correlates investigative evidence with laboratory findings to achieve identification of casualties in accordance with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Laboratory standards.
• Provides quality control services and control reviews to DPAA of identification determinations completed by laboratory teams.
