NTS - Neonatal Transfer service

This fellow job has come up as part of the NICU expansion in which we have opened 45 cots to provide all levels of neonatal care at the Royal London Hospital. We are a tertiary centre and take referrals from all over the North East London region.

The posts will be for a period of 12 months with further extension depending upon the clinical performance

Training will be provided as appropriate for the individual in accordance with the syllabus for trainees in neonatal medicine following discussion with their educational supervisor. In general training opportunities occur in the context of:

Consultant led ward rounds twice daily
Registrar led ward rounds in second half of post dependent on experience
Practical supervision
Concise topic teaching two mornings per week
Dedicated X-ray meeting
A weekly academic ward round and case presentation/seminar
Training in cranial ultrasound and echocardiography

Specialist clinics: Neurodevelopmental/Respiratory/Cardiology
3 hours protected teaching per week

Weekly general paediatric teaching sessions covering a wide range of topics
Regular multidisciplinary simulation training

A dedicated service for neonatal transport in London is based at The Royal London Hospital. The team functions autonomously but there are opportunities for individuals to rotate into the transport service for periods of time to receive training and experience in this field of neonatal care.

We are recruiting for experienced band 6 nurses with a post graduate qualification in critical care to join RCN Team of the Year 2021 Winners, Adult Critical Care Unit at the Royal London Hospital.

We are very much on the frontline in London’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and are rapidly expanding our critical care capacity in response to demand in the capital. The role

We are currently seeking an experienced Traffic Manager to cover maternity leave. Provide advice and guidance for staff who line-manage other staff within the Division and to become directly involved as and when required. Analyse current and future service activity and establish the workforce required to ensure the appropriate staffing skill/band mix for the delivery of service plans. Undertake individual performance appraisals for directly line-managed staff within the Division and to ensure appropriate training plans are developed within the required timeframes.

To provide strong clinical leadership to ensure the smooth and effective running of the surgical centre and strive for continuous productivity improvements to achieve national elective best practice standards through Capped Utilisation of 85% or above through starting on time, minimising turnaround times and avoidable on the day cancellations. -A minimum of 85%-day case procedures through the surgical centre - 97.6 % of surgical patients successfully discharged home on the day of surgery (British Association of Day Surgery BADS) - Performs in line with established activity levels, and particularly Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) specialty average case volumes per theatre session (BADS) - To ensure that the surgical centre activities focus on supporting patient care within available resources and in line with the strategic direction of the SEL Acute Provider Collaborative and the Trust - To ensure the delivery of excellent, patient focused and cost-effective services which are responsive to the needs of patients, carers and General Practitioners and are in line with the Trusts strategic direction and service plans. Where appropriate, support the Clinical Directorate and Surgical Centre Management team to represent the Trust , and with partner organisations, to work closely with them to institute integrated work in in the best interests of patient care, to ensure appropriate public and patient involvement in assessing service quality and improvements. To undertake advanced clinical care, interventions and procedures commensurate and as required within the specialty. To provide expert evidence based advice to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals. Employ effective decision making skills to address complex, distressing and sensitive issues and use effective change management skills to complement them. Undertake comprehensive assessment of patient health needs. Assess, monitor and evaluate disease activity and drug therapy of patients where necessary by initiating and interpreting clinical data, explaining treatment goals and managing side effects. To act as the point of contact for the service. To act as an advocate to empower patients, their families and other carers to participate in decisions regarding their care. Engage patients and carers/families in the planning and delivery of care and the development of services to enhance the patient experience. To participate in the business planning process for the service participating in the formation of business cases. Lead the nursing service review and redesign of pathways ensuring consistency across the organisation and parity of access. .
