Sheet Metal SupervisorRNAS Culdrose, Helston, TR12 7RH 38 Hours per week

- Friday Competitive salary plus benefits Serco have an exciting opportunity for a Sheet Metal Supervisor to join our team based at RNAS Culdrose located in Helston. This site is one of the Navy's two principal air bases, and one of the busiest military airfields in the UK. The Sheet Metal Supervisor is responsible for conducting fabrication and repair of aircraft components and/or structures on Merlin aircraft. This role will support the Senior Supervisor and Serco Support Manager in providing Subject Matter Expertise for all fabrication/structural repair matters to meet contractual delivery at RNAS Culdrose.
Main Accountabilities:
- To support the Senior Supervisor and Serco Support Manager whilst maintaining a compliant, efficient, and effective operation in line with contractual commitments and customer working procedures.
- Responsible to the Senior Supervisor and the Serco Support Manager with respect to structural repair of the Merlin aircraft and/or associated components in accordance with the published procedures and instructions.
- Comply with Serco’s Quality Manual, HSE policy and all site regulations.
- To be authorised for second signature for own trade group.
- Identify options to develop the customer base and provide our customers with innovative solutions and capability options to support their plans and business goals.
- Ensure the Senior Supervisor and Serco Support Manager is made aware of all business risks.
- Ensure all verbal and written customer complaints and quality issues are brought to the attention of the Senior Supervisor and Serco Support Manager.
- Ensure best practice and assurance of regulatory compliance by the utilisation of DASOR, Assure and any other reporting medium to capture and communicate findings and actions from engineering, safety and near miss events.
- Ensure the monitoring hazards and ensuring risks, and issues are identified and quantified.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and associated programmes when required.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Attained a Service Certificate of Competency (CofC) or successfully completed a local Serco Supervisory Management and Aircraft Documentation Course and CofC Board.
- Must have at least 6 months experience in an airworthiness environment in the last 2 years.
- Attained a recognised aircraft sheet metal fabrication qualification or competencies and be able to produce satisfactory test pieces to support any experience.
- Previous supervisory experience and a thorough and good working knowledge of the following:
- Merlin Aircraft Engineering and Aircraft Systems (by Trade) – desirable.
- Merlin Aircraft Servicing and Support Equipment – desirable.
- Lean Operating Procedures o Naval Air Publications and Compound Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (C-IETP) and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) repair instructions.
- Health and Safety, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, Tool Control and Quality Practices.
- Engineering and Asset Management Systems such as GOLDesp.
- Completed a Maintenance Human Factors Course.
- Have a thorough understanding of rotary wing military (aviation) procedures.
- An understanding and proven experience of Airworthiness Engineering Safety and Compliance iaw Regulatory and Legislative requirements (MAA).
- Excellent leadership and people management experience.
- An excellent capability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining operational outputs.
