This post is fixed term for 12 months covering maternity leave, starting at the beginning of March 2025. The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. NUH is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Trust Grade doctor at ST3 level or above to support one of the largest General Surgery departments in the UK. The post holder may rotate between specialties after 6 months if their preferences and service requirements allow.

The post holder will contribute to out of hours on-call, and should therefore have completed core surgical training (or equivalent), have full MRCS, ALS and have experience working within the NHS.

About the Role

The Traffic & Flood Risk Management Service area seeks to deliver an excellent customer focused service in an efficient, effective, and economic manner, with specific focus of the Council’s role as the Highway Authority whilst adhering to Corporate, Departmental and Government priorities.

The Senior Officer’s primary purpose is to support the Flood Risk Management Team to effectively manage, develop and deliver the flooding duties of the City Council. The role is required to manage the investigation of flooding matters, to evaluate options that address and resolve issues and develop assets vital to the continued commercial footing of the Service Area.

We are looking for a proactive and efficient individual, who can put citizens and customers first and work with a range of internal and external stakeholders. They must also be organised and have excellent communication skills to ensure that the outputs of the service area are maintained to professional standards.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Be able to implement the duties as required by the Flood Risk Regulations 2009, Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and Land Drainage Act 1991 as they apply to Nottingham City Council.
• To assist in the development of creative solutions to meet service priorities, to work proactively in a multi-functional transportation / flood mitigation team environment, assisting in securing new funding arrangements through researching and submitting funding bids / applications on behalf of the service and its partners.
