This Supervisory Transportation Security Officer position is located at Norfolk International Airport (ORF), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Supervisory Transportation Security Officer (STSO), you will be responsible for mitigating actual and potential threats against civil aviation and other transportation modes. You will also perform and supervise in your area of specialty, which may include Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and Lead Transportation Security Officers (LTSOs) in the performance of all security functions related to the screening of people, property, and cargo through the use and application of procedures, techniques, and technology. • Engaging in continuous development of critical thinking skills necessary to mitigate security threats by identifying, evaluating, and applying appropriate situational options and approaches.

• Developing incident information and reports for Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) and superiors.
• Serving as a member of the National Screening Force.

Supervisory/Managerial duties include serving as a first line supervisor for the organization. This includes, but is not limited to: assigning work, setting priorities, and reviewing and evaluating work and performance of subordinates; approving leave; coaching and developing employees; recommending corrective or disciplinary actions; resolving routine problems that typically impact the objectives of the organizational unit; when required, coordinating with customers outside the immediate organization; supervising employees performing special program work; and serving as the supervisor-in-charge of an assigned airport or other transportation terminal.

OPED:Our continued work on Frailty identification and intervention has seen a significant redesign of our services; this led in 2017 to the creation of a dedicated Older Peoples ED (OPED).



This service is situated within the emergency department’s footprint. The focus of the service is to identify Frailty and expedite tailored expert intervention between the hours of 8am and 6pm, seven days a week. OPED consists of a four trollied bay and 2 side rooms where patients are assessed by the team. The daily team consists of specialty doctors, ACPs and a consultant geriatrician working in conjunction with the Early intervention team which consists of a physio/occupational therapist. The team also reviews those patients in other parts of the emergency department including resus. Patients if requiring admission are triaged appropriate depending on working diagnosis

Acutely unwell older patients are selected for OPM while in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), using a locally developed system of triage which is a hybrid of age-related and needs-related systems. The age cut-offs vary according to the presentation of the patient. Approximately43%of acute medical emergencies are triaged to OPM by the current criteria.



All OPM acute inpatients are accommodated on a single site in the 1000 bedded Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. There are 5 OPM wards of approximately 36 beds, with nearly 3 consultants for each ward

5. Recording all IT Incidents and Requests for Service, ensuring all relevant details are captured in line with Service Desk standards
6. Classify calls accurately with the information provided and prioritise in line with the Service Level Agreement
7. Responsible for maintaining data quality\integrity of the Digital Services call management system
8. Investigate and diagnose incidents by providing first line telephony support, gathering and analysing information to identify and resolve a range of technical incidents such as hardware, software, application and network incidents with the objective of restoring normal service as quickly as possible
9. Resolve or provide identified work around solutions to customer queries / incidents or assign to the correct specialised team within Digital Services
10. Provide technical advice and training for “how to” queries from customers
11. Monitoring and tracking incidents, escalating where necessary hieratical or functionally
12. Support the planning of requests for service tasks outside peak demand times however ensuring the request is completed within the Digital Services service level agreement
13. Liaising with third party suppliers to resolve faults or provide identified work around solutions on tailored or National systems
14. Installing and configuring desktop software
15. Administering IT accounts and system privileges in accordance with the security policy
16. Contribute to creating Service Desk process maps\ procedures and assist in keeping documentation up to date
17. Responsible for the safe use of IT equipment, software installs, configuration and maintenance
18. Other Service Desk activities, as directed, to continuously improve service and strive for best practice
19. Provide a professional and customer-focused service through the life cycle of each call, manage customer expectations by keeping customers informed of progress and explain technical resolutions\ workarounds in a language that suits the customers technical understanding
20. Provide peer training within the Service Desk team to ensure a multi-skilled team and effective knowledge transfer
21. Presenting a positive image of Digital Services at all times and comply with all Corporate Policy
