This position functions in the clinical associate role in the primary care clinic, which utilizes a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model. The PACT ICT is responsible for providing direct and/or indirect patient care to an assigned group of patients. She/he will have the knowledge, skill and experience to carry out assignments involving point of care testing, providing treatments and vaccinations, performing diagnostic studies, and patient/family education. The ICT demonstrates active collaboration and communication with Patient Aligned Care Teamlet (Patient, Primary Care Provider, RN Care Manager and Administrative Associate) and Larger Team (family/caregiver, internal and community-based services and disciplines involved in providing care to the patient). Major duties include:

• The incumbent assists outpatient licensed staff with the delivery of care to patients with complex, specialized, and potentially life-threatening situations.
• Performs observation-based screening and collecting patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel.
• Completes approved templates and tools, such as the outpatient intake form, normal result notes, and follow up treatment protocols established by the agency.
• Assists in behavioral/psychiatric situations in an outpatient setting. This can include assisting licensed personnel with crisis intervention, management of aggressive or suicidal psychiatric patients, by providing one-to-one observations and applying prevention and management of disruptive behavior techniques (PMDB).

We are advertising a Band 8A Senior Clinical Scientist post within our expanding team in the Imaging Physics and Radiation Protection group based within Oxford University NHS Foundation Trust providing services to Oxfordshire. The Group also works in collaboration with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, with a contract is in place to deliver Diagnostic Medical Physics services across the county of Somerset and to other service users outside Oxfordshire.

This role is a key part to help us to deliver this innovative collaboration.

The job will be based in the South West of England so relocation to Oxford is not a requirement.

The position is permanent and full-time (37.5 hours per week).

The role would suit an accredited Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology but we can support applicants close to achieving this status at a lower Band. We would strongly encourage development towards further Qualified Expert certification such as RPA and LPA, as appropriate.

What will my working week look like?

What will I be responsible for doing?

We care for all aspects of cardiac medicine including; Intervention, Electrophysiology, Structural and Adult Congenital. We are looking for experienced staff nurses who are passionate about working in a supportive learning environment and who are keen to progress to a band 6 role with some structured support to achieve this. The John Radcliffe Hospital (JR) is an award-winning hospital and is Oxfordshire's main accident and emergency site. The JR provides acute medical and surgical services including trauma, intensive care and cardiothoracic services. It is part of Oxford University Hospitals which is one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in the UK and has a national and international reputation for the excellence of our services and our role in teaching and research. The Lead Nurse for the Thames Valley and Wessex Paediatric Critical Care ODN will provide nursing leadership across the Network, acting as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for providers, commissioning and ICBs. You will work alongside the national PCC ODN lead nurses to deliver on nationally agreed programmes of work and to support regional surge planning for PCC capacity.

You would work with the Network Manager, Education team and Lead Clinicians as part of a multi-disciplinary leadership team to lead the strategic and operational development of coherent and effective network arrangements, and delivery of a programme of work that addresses national and local priorities, leading on user engagement and risk management. some of the key programmes of work for the upcoming 18 months are: implementation of the PCC services specifications for Level 2, Level 3 and Transport services, working in collaboration with LTV providers to develop services alongside the NCEPOD recommendations and implementation of national Paediatric Early Warning scores.

You will also, in partnership with the ODN Education team, PIER and SORT play a key role in delivering education and training for Paediatric Critical Care across the ODN.

Outpatient Pathway

· Administer all new referrals received via the E referral service, ensuring all are electronically triaged by the appropriate clinical staff member and action asrequired.

· Process and log all non-Choose and Book referrals on EPR, including registering new patients in addition to updating existing patient details.

· Book new and follow-up outpatient and diagnostic appointments, ensuring that capacity is proactively and efficiently used. This includes booking patients into the correct clinic to ensure that they are seen by the most appropriateclinician.

· Reschedule outpatient appointments as a result of patients calling the service, in line with the 18-week RTT / cancer / screening targets and agreed local processes inrespectto patient cancellations.

· To support and contribute to on-going and future service development projects supporting continuous improvement of the services we provide.

· Any other duties at the request of the Team Leader / Patient Pathway Manager / Service Manager, which may be needed to fulfil the objectives of the post, which are appropriate to the grade.

Your core role in Clinical Trials Pharmacy would be to:

Obtain and maintain Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training, apply principles of GCP in the management of clinical trials and work within the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trial) Regulations 2004 and EU directive relating to Clinical Trials, communicate with Investigators, Research Nurses, Trust R&D, Sponsors, Clinical Research Associates and Pharmacy staff during the set-up and running of a clinical trial, ensure clinical trial protocols and SOPs are followed during dispensing of clinical trial investigational medicinal products and other drugs included in the protocol, order and receive in clinical trial drugs, process receipt paperwork and acknowledge receipt on IVRS (Electronic Medication Supply) systems, check stock levels and expiry dates of clinical trial drugs and keep balance logs up to date, assist with the packing down and re-labelling of clinical trial drugs if required, assist with the preparation for monitoring meetings, audits and inspections, maintain Clinical Trial files ensuring items can easily be located and are presentable, process returned clinical trial drugs and ensure the paperwork is kept in order, participate in the statutory temperature monitoring of clinical trial stocks, assist with the destruction of clinical trial medication, assist with the closedown and archiving of clinical trial files, represent the Clinical Trials Team to update the dispensary staff at meetings, liaise with Research Nurses to update them on trial progress, stock levels etc, assist in the collection of data as requested by the Senior Clinical Trial Technician or Clinical Trial Pharmacists, assist in maintaining financial records, including the generation of invoices, checking payments etc, assist with general administration such as organising set up meetings etc and be a point of contact within the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Team, maintain clinical trial filing systems and drug accountability documentation for clinical trials, use the computer system and other information technology in all areas of Pharmacy.

You will required to assist in the running of specialised clinics such a our 2 week wait hysteroscopy, vulval and pelvic mass clinics, our colposcopy clinics supporting clinicians carry out treatments following abnormal smears and our general gynaecology clinics that include urogynaecology and endometriosis clinics. This role covers a wide variety of services within women’s health. You will be part of the nursing team to support the department sister in the running of the unit. You will assist in the maintenance of the patient environment in terms of cleanliness, tidiness, auditing, and the restocking and ordering of supplies. You will be part of the team also supporting our Pre op assessment nurses to carry out assessments on our patients that fit certain criteria following out patient hysteroscopy being booked for general anaesthetic.
