The Oncology/Hematology Registered Nurse (RN) is a clinical expert who uses advanced specialized knowledge and judgement for delivery of high quality and evidence-based care to oncology patients and their families. Uses a team approach to identify, analyze, and resolve patient care problems with measurable outcomes. Completes physiological assessments and completes documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance to established policies and procedures. Triages patient problems and assists in the evaluation of symptoms and initiate interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Monitors, tracks/tends, and reports ongoing care needs and outcomes to the interdisciplinary team. They direct the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and providing quality improvement and outcome utilization. Public Contact Work 25%
Receives, schedules, refers, and contacts members of the staff, agency, and persons outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public. Regularly involved in high-level contacts with visitors and callers for other organizations and activities. Receives telephone calls and greets visitors to the office. Uses judgement and initiative to screen or refer as appropriate. Screens callers/visitors by ascertaining name, affiliation, and purpose of call/visit, and based upon subject matter, determines whether information can be supplied personally. Obtains needed background information before referring calls to supervisor, and uses independent judgement in referring, initiating, or disposing of inquiries and requests. Arranges for personal interviews and receives applicants reporting for interviews.

Acts as liaison to other managers and staff within and outside the organization and provides accurate advice on procedures, reports, requirements, and other matters necessary to implement the supervisor's policies, directives, and instructions. Clerical Duties 30%
Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, letters and other forms of written communication. Performs the following types of duties: editing and composition of letters and reports, reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, prepares public presentations, and develops standard or form letters and replies to inquiries. Provides general clerical mail and correspondence services such as preparing a variety of recurring reports, reviewing outgoing correspondence for proper attachments, or consolidating/coordinating submittals of information. Initiates follow-up or takes subsequent action as indicated by the correspondence.

Processes all clerical action documents such as recruitment, appointments, promotions, special advancements, transfers and separations for those under Executive Leadership chain of command as assigned. Maintains Competency folders and training files. Submits IFCAP requests and work orders using the automated computerized system (DHCP). Assumes full responsibility along with other Executive Leadership Secretaries for clerical functioning of all committees/boards of which the Executive Leadership is the chair. The incumbent exercises control over supervisor's appointments with complete authority for commitments of time; establishing priorities at own discretion; setting up, rearranging, and when necessary, coordinating meetings with staff offices. Arranges for meeting space, speaker, and support arrangements for large conferences. Makes appointments for the supervisor; cancels and accepts invitations; checks requirements for engagements, i.e., necessity for speech, etc. Maintains a calendar of future events for up to the next 12 months, on monthly, bimonthly, and weekly basis; scheduling briefings and updating the calendar for a two-month period.

Office Supplies and Equipment 20%

The primary purpose of the position is to provide leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of the compliance activities for the healthcare system and to ensure a standardized and effective approach to compliance using the compliance framework, Compliance and Integrity standards, processes, and resources set forth under the Compliance Program national guidelines and associated documents within the VHA health care system and any functions aligned under the VHA health care system.

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Developing, recommending, and implementing Compliance and Integrity program goals for operational units within the local health care system.
