Your Role
Our Bus Station Assistants are the familiar face our customers see on their daily travels, every day is different when meeting people from all areas of Greater Manchester! In this role a critical part is maintaining the cleanliness of TfGM bus stations by ensuring the facilities are always kept clean and sanitized. Working as part of a team, our Bus Station Assistants support the Bus Station Supervisor and other colleagues to enable the smooth and safe operation of our bus stations.
We are looking for a Bus Station Assistant to become a part of our vital Bus Station Operations Team in Altrincham, Middleton and Wythenshawe but we’re also looking to create a talent bank for future opportunities at our hubs across Greater Manchester over the next 6 months.

Who are we?
When our customers travel around the Greater Manchester network, it is our friendly faces who they see as we are the frontline of TfGM, so we make sure we are visible for everyone that needs us. The Bus Station team are responsible for operational sites all over Greater Manchester, including Interchanges, Bus Stations, Satellite Stations and Horwich Parkway. We are one of the largest departments in TfGM with over 160 colleagues within our team.
What you’ll bring

You’ll have experience of working with people and providing a great customer service. You’ll be able to communicate effectively and have a positive approach to helping people on their journeys, keeping our stations clean, safe and tidy. Ideally you’ll have an understanding of COSHH, Manual Handling and general workplace Health and Safety.
This role involves shift work so you’ll need to be flexible as our operational hours are 6am 12am Monday to Sunday and Bank Holidays on a shift basis working 5 days a week, 37 hours per week. Monday to Saturday shifts are 7am 3pm or 3pm 11pm, Sundays are 10am 5pm and Bank Holidays are 10am 6pm.
What we can offer you
We offer a competitive salary, starting from £23,571 (pro rata for part time), plus a shift allowance of 15%, this means that as you’ll work on a rostered basis, we’ll add an extra 15% onto your total pay for the month (not just for certain shifts).
Through this advertisement, we have 4 permanent roles. Two roles based at our Altrincham Interchange, one at Middleton Bus Station and one part time position of 12 hours per week at our Wythenshawe Interchange .
We will also be populating a talent bank for opportunities at our hubs across Greater Manchester for full time and part time positions that may become available over the next 6 months. These could also be Fixed Term Contract or Permanent positions.
