A diverse and transformative Executive Team are critical to our success as an ICB and the evolution of our health & social care system. As an Executive Team member in NHS SSOT, you can expect to be leading collaboratively across organisational boundaries to bring our future vision to life on behalf of our local population, working together on the reduction and reporting of health inequalities and fostering a culture that actively promotes equality, diversity, inclusion and allyship.

You will be responsible for leading all matters relating to the development of the long-term people strategy for the ICB & ICS, ensuring this reflects and integrates the strategies of all relevant partner organisations within the ICS. You will take responsibility for leading the strategic development of our people, advising and supporting our system leaders and developing the cultural ambition which will be required for our success.

You will also take a key role as a participant of the wider group of system HRDs / Directors of People to design, deliver and enable the System People Plan, and inform our approach around organisational design and developing ways of working

We will support you to perform at your best in this role through the use of the NHS Leadership Competency Framework as part of performance appraisal and personal development planning.



Taking accountability for devising and delivering a 5-year people plan for the ICB in conjunction with your boards, your partners across the ICB and your local community.

Leading a collective approach to Organisational Design within the ICB, supporting the ongoing development of the organisational structure including outlining Director portfolios, clarifying of core individual and team objectives and leading the approach to the recruitment
and retention processes to ensure the attraction and retention of talent.

Delivering on the future operating model design of the ICB from a workforce perspective, ensuring that any gaps between current knowledge, skills and capabilities and the future state are mitigated and that the team across the ICB are developed and supported.

The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB)is responsible for planning functions; managing the NHS budget and arranging the provision of health services in the geographical area.

Location Home based/hybrid working (most of posts). Travel on occasions to a Hub location with at least 1 days notice

New starters are expected to collect IT equipment, from offices in Stoke-on-Trent, and if based at home are required to have appropriate desk/chair/ relevant equipment in compliance with DSE regulations

Our assessment process will include a stakeholder panel which will be held virtually, as well as aninterview panel which will be held face to face.

We currently anticipate the stakeholder panel will be on 4th November 2024, and the interview panel on 7th November 2024.

Improving outcomes in population health and healthcare Tackling and reporting on inequalities in outcomes experience and access Enhancing productivity and value for money Helping the NHS support broader social and economic development The Director of Corporate Governance is part of the executive team who will lead the evolution of the ICS on behalf of the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent system. Working collaboratively and across organisational boundaries at the highest level across the System ensuring that the approach to integrated commissioning and leading at scale transformation workstreams, develops in line with the ambitions of the System in the coming years. The postholder is accountable to the Chief Executive and will lead on all matters relating to corporate governance; ensuring the ICB has a well-defined corporate governance framework in place that is fully embedded in all aspects of the operating model and reflects the values and ambitions of the ICB and all assurance requirements. The Director of Corporate Governance will lead on all aspects of communications and engagement, Freedom to Speak Up, leading and co-ordinating arrangements for the non-executive directors and ensuring the provision of effective administration and corporate services to the ICB. In addition, the post-holder will be the designated board secretary.

The postholder is accountable to the Chief Executive and will lead on all matters relating to transformation including strategic service change, service transformation and integration. The Chief Transformation Officer is the ICB Executive lead accountable for seamless transition of delegated commissioning (from NHSE/I), strategic and integrated commissioning, PLACE & Locality Working, Provider collaborative development, leadership of three System Portfolios and the evolution of the new procurement regime for the System.

The Associate Director of Safeguarding will provide leadership and management of all aspects of safeguarding within Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB. They will have a high profile and improve the standard of safeguarding knowledge and practice within Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICS. The post holder will directly line manage the Safeguarding team, ensuring that designated professionals are delivering on the Safeguarding agenda in each Place and are working in an integrated and collaborative way with key partners As our Associate Director for Safeguarding, it is important that you develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships to ensure we have an integrated approach to safeguarding our most vulnerable adults and children, as such there will be an expectation that you regularly travel across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to engage face to face with our key stakeholders.
