The Role
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Estates to lead the management, development, and operational efficiency of our school estates. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of estate management, including facilities planning, maintenance, health and safety, compliance, and sustainability initiatives across the Trust. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the learning environments of our students and the well-being of our staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement an estates strategy that aligns with the Trust's mission and long-term goals.
- Oversee day-to-day facilities management, ensuring safety, compliance, and cost-efficiency.
- Lead sustainability projects to enhance environmental performance across the Trust’s sites.
- Manage health and safety protocols, ensuring that all Trust sites adhere to legal and regulatory standards.
- Develop, monitor, and manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships related to estates.
- Collaborate with school leaders to support each academy’s unique facilities needs and growth plans.
- Lead and develop a team of site and facilities managers, fostering a culture of professionalism, safety, and continuous improvement.
About You:
The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking leader with significant experience in estates or facilities management, preferably within an educational or public sector context. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety regulations, experience in project and budget management, and a proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- A professional qualification in estates, facilities management, or a related field.
- Proven track record of strategic leadership in estates management.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety, compliance, and sustainability best practices.
- Excellent project management and financial planning skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders.
